That article was absolute garbage and complete misrepresented lies written by a drivel spewing dumbass trying to make it sound like the word is ending for the idiot in question.

Nothing 'made his ipad stop working' as presented in the article. If you don't accept updates to ANY operating system based device then eventually new versions of apps won't be compatible with the old version of your software. If I refuse to install service packs for windows I will encounter software that says "you need SP# or higher to install this software". The claims made in the article are ridiculous.

We still had version 3 iOS ipads that hadn't been updated. They worked fine with the apps they have but were no longer compatible with the network security changes. We require them to be updated and then they work fine. By the claims of the idiots in the article we are now bad for updating the network security and requiring devices be updated to v4 or higher to be compatible.

And what moron gets a SUBSCRIPTION and doesn't understand that it means you have subscribed and will have to pay for it. Really.

All corporations are evil if their goal is to make money as it puts the good of the corporation over the good of the consumer. Watch "Ethos" on Netflix for some rather disturbing information about corporations and banks. Even microsoft is small potatoes when it comes to the real evil.

Couldn't have said it better myself, that's what I was getting at. I still have a G3 laptop running OS9 and it runs what I have on there fine even though I haven't updated the OS. Same goes for my sons original iPod mini and my 1st gen iPod touch. The mag sub part I thought was just plain whiny. It was like joining book of the month club and wondering why they keep sending you books.

And as for small evil vs big evil...I think language is important and evil connotes something actually evil not something that is objectionable. Evil is foisted upon the innocent, can be life altering in a truly devastating way...it's not evil if you can simply skip buying a product because you find the terms objectionable.
