I am a Christian, but not a YEC-er.

Even if you take the first two verses of Genesis very literally, it does not fix a maximum age to the Earth.

Good point. Kinda begs the question then.

My music is much better than it sounds.

Thanks for picking up on that, LK.

Wow! Up to 5 pages now. And that's without it devolving (pun intended) into an all-out flame war so far. Seems like we run the gamut when it comes to our views of origins.

Now I'm thinking about dino-dragons and thunderdactyls again. Could it be that our Native American forerunners were actual eyewitnesses to the presence of thunderbirds? Or did they dig up the bones while they were excavating their pueblos and cliff dwellings? Or is it just a figment of a fertile imagination? I don't know. I wasn't there. *wink*

Come to think of it, with all of the recycling, mass extinction, and mass repopulation evident in the geologic and fossil records, maybe both camps really are right. Maybe the Earth as a planet is quite old, but the Earth in its present form, with rhinos instead of triceratops and iguanas instead of T-Rexes, may be quite young.

Anyway, have a good weekend, and I hope to see you at Woodstock and Glastonbury this year. *grin*

Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Perhaps the resident dragon should offer a suggestion? In doing research for this film, I found that *these* creatures led to the Thunderbird legends, and when you see the way they sun themselves, you can see the Thunderbird imagery, and it all makes sense. I even refer to "the original thunderbirds" in the film. Of course, birds did evolve from dinosaurs, so in a not-so-figurative sense, dragons do still fly among us :-)

Then again...

Luke 19:39-40
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”

I love this place!

Apparently, the 46% figure is way too low. *wink*

Interesting. I am a christian, and I don't believe in the earth only being 10,000 years old. That doesn't make sense at all. Of course, on the other had, I also don't believe in the GTE (Grand Theory of Evolution), because that says there is not a God, which I don't agree with. I'm kinda in the middle.

Also, polls are bull. Razz

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.
