This is much more illustrative of the possibilities with the Sonus G2M unit:

i've got one of these and i love it. i've used it on a few of my tunes here.
what's really fun is you can hook up a mic to the input and *sing* to control a synth. |

I had a look at that video. The bit that worried me was the suggestion that you would need to "set the pitch bend to + or - 2 semitones". Does this apply to recording in Garageband? But the Sonuus certainly seems to do a reasonable job, and is the cheapest option. I'm tempted...

+/-2 semitones is the default on all the instruments i've come across in GarageBand |

One drawback-
Last I knew that thing is monophonic (stop me if you've heard this one). I find half (no, two thirds) of the guitar synth fun comes from triggering lush chordal pads! But that requires a bigger investment to a polyphonic solution. I have a Yamaha EZAG. Not perfect. But does allow me to play chords. Peace be with my friend Jerry! |

It was that unit on your latest song that got me started, Andrew! I take your point about the polymorphic. But I am having trouble finding how much the Yamahas are or where to buy one - it seems the news of them hasn't spread to Australia yet! That's why I got interested in the You Rock Guitar - they can be bought here. Philip |

I think the Yamaha didn't make it. It could be out of production or available in only a few places. And given the chance to do it again I would have bought the YouRock! Alan (apb) has one of those. You should shoot him a PM and get a review. I think he'll recommend it! Peace be with my friend Jerry! |
