EQ guide

I -really- wish someone would make a VST plugin for EQ based on this!

Or is there already such a thing?

The vast majority of EQ plugins have presets built on these fundamentals. But yeah, it would be uber cool to have one laid out like this chart, where you could just click on one instrument to set range and q settings, then work a gain knob assigned specifically to that range.

Your idea is a good one. Meanwhile - hanks for the guide - I just copied and printed to pin up in my studio

It's better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done.

I'll have to look a little closer, but there is a learning curve regardless. Maybe referring to this will get the freq ranges in my head... Kinda cool. Will have to share this with my music pals on FB too! Will give it a try and maybe some of it will stick... I am always looking at a graph as reference.

Thanks for sharing...

The science of sound is too complex for me to fully engage. Oh how I wish I already knew this before becoming the lazy artist. I think I need to make friends with a passionate engineer.

If you can find a young one with experience grab 'em! My hearing has gone south with age, and 35 years of pounding acoustic drums, and PA that kills, and band levels, so I tend to put too much high end in my mixes to please myself. It ends ends up hurting the ears of those that can really hear! It's a bitch having to mix/master based on something other than what I am hearing because I know I am not hearing everything, regardless of how good my monitors are. Adds yet another piece to the puzzle.... LOL Damned getting older anyhow!

Wouldn't be too hard to work out the relevant frequencies and write them in at the bottom of the chart.

24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1924. That means it only took 50 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.
