file type help
Thursday, August 02 2012 @ 12:07 PM CDT
Hey guys
My pc is rebelling against me I think. At some point my previously made adobe audition session files decided they open with adobe reader. They are (.ses) my adobe audition CS5 opens (.sesx). I would like to go back and edit possibly improve some of my older songs but despite having all the files I cannot open the sessions. I tried renaming, attempted without success changing the file type. And don't see an option to tell audition to be the primary opener of .ses files. Any help is appreciated. Open Audition first, and then use the "open file" option on the menu and navigate to your files to open them. You may want to undo your renaming first. So you are opening the editor first and then manually opening the files rather than clicking on the file and opening them by association.
If you don't see the files from the "open files" option then it may be that you can't open older sessions with the new software. If that is the case you may need to install your older versions to do this. I would think it is backwards compatible. Need drums? Look me up... |

thx for the reply
I used to be able the older files with the newer program but something screwed it up. At any rate i re installed adobe audition 3 to get a work around for the moment. If i could find the new disc i'd try re-installing the new version again. Occupational therapist by trade; Musician by desire |

On the newer version. When you go to click open, it tells you what filetypes it will open, and are visible. You should be able to choose "All filetypes" and it shows everything in the dir regardless of filetype. The you can find your session and click it. If it's compatible it'll open it. It should show in the dire without having to do that if it's compatible though. It should show .ses, and .sesx both in the dir when you click open and navigate. If it doesn't show .ses then that's not a good sign for compatability. Need drums? Look me up... |

Yes Harold I was just going to mention that. I had to go look to remember. J when you click Open there is a little window with a down arrow, for file types. If you click that little down arrow it will show you different extenders (file types) that it makes visible in the dir you have open. If you click that little down arrow (that's the dropdown menu Rocha mentions), you see different compatible file types. Might actually see your .ses in the dropdown and then there is "All Files", which shows everything in the dir regardless of filetype. I am talking about the same thing Rocha speaks of. he beat me to it. Need drums? Look me up... |

hey guys
it says "file types not supported by any currently registered plugins" or similar. audition 3 opens the files though.. I uninstalled adobe reader for the moment. I think my best bet is to reinstall cs5? just have to find my stuff since the move... for some reason when choosing file types when i click on audition cs5 it does nothing.
