Props to the well informed busker. It does us all well to our rights and stand by them.
Here in NYC it can be pretty harrowing to do so. The police are basically running a zero tolerance program - even when they are wrong. They prefer to arrest you first and then sort out the details later. Including paying massive amounts of taxpayer money to settle cases of unlawful arrest.
Unfortunately I know this from first hand experience.
