Best and worst, or at least some real negative undercurrents (think Altamont). But it was a time of hopeful expectations for love of one's fellow man and a better world. As John said, "All you need is love."

I came to San Francisco in 1971 with visions of sixties' flower-children. Visited Haight-Asbury, a friend lived there. Scott's song was a draw for my future wife to come to CA. Amazing how history unfolds...

Remember to wear flowers in your hair.

The song was actually written by John Phillips of The Mama's and Papas. Now there was a tragic waste of talent that got flushed down the drain by hard drugs. Great songwriter, vocalist, and arranger. Scott Mackenzie was a friend of his from the early 60's folk days and John generously wrote the song for him to record.
