Arranging songs
Sunday, December 16 2007 @ 06:47 PM CST
I think it would be realy great if one is able to arrange his songs..
This, for organizing... For example you upload your songs/collaboration and after a year or so you decide to put them together as an album or you want to put the collabs with the same artist together... That would be realy handy... Another example is that I accidently deleted a song which belongs to an album...now I have to reupload it but I can't place it at the right place...it will enter at the top... Please let us arrange songs... kind regards, o0o |

I have been organizing my tunes into albums (or I guess they're called playlists, or podcasts?). It would be nice if MacJams made it easier to do. You can link the songs together using html, but it's tedious. Take a look at how I approached the problem... |

That is exactly how I approach the problem on iCompositions...but that was due to the fact they were not to change their whole system just so we could create albums...But you can arrange songs...in a way.
I slightly hope that macjams will look into the matter...just to improve the comfort for the artist ánd the listener... If macjams can't as well then I guess I should do the same as I did elsewhere... Thanks! Btw: where did you get that player on your site and I don't see a box named MUSIC where I can embed my albums...Where can I find that? |

Hey, this is a really great idea. I had never thought of it, but as you say it would be comforting to the artist to present the material in a coherent form with a songlist like an album. I've often felt that track listing is soooo underrated when it comes to albums. The right song at the right time is so important.
That was really the first thing that I hated about the move from LPs to CDs - there was only one side, so you didn't get that cool flow of having a track to close out each side of the LP. Obviously a playlist could recreate something like this if you could possibly arrange your song list into selections of 4 to 6 tracks at a time (or however many you'd like). Mason |

We have begged for this feature in previous threads...going back two and three years. Some data structures can't easily be changed without massive recoding. Time consuming. I thought that my suggestion was a simple solution: On a user's Profile page, allow all fields to be sortable, and add one or two user-definable fields to the column headings. That would allow one to build albums as opposed to the silly raw chronological ordering. Also, I have long asked for a simple "archive" or "do not display" button which hides but does not delete a song. The song would still be accessible via its original URL...which you could send to people.

Funny that you mentioned this - Tom Petty added a track on one of his earlier cassettes or CD's (can't recall which album) where he spoke to the listener and made a comment something like, "this is the end of side one, if this was an LP, you'd have to get up and turn it over..." Anyone else remember that? |

This should be possible with a little javascript. If time permits, I'll see if I can add it to my comments code. I said don't disturb me when I'm cleaning my room! |
