Thanks Smoke, not sure how that works yet tho but I'll check it out.

I just wanted to show you what previous challenges have happened here at MacJams.

You have a great goal here, but I'd suggest changing it from a contest to a challenge. The rules for the previous challenges here might help you adjust your event into something more likely to interest the MacJammers community.

Just an idea...

is why I said NO ...we are here to share our music and to challenge
ourselves to motivate our love to music to create and write and
perfom .. not to compete and challenge " each other " ...

wish I made it clear ... cheers friend !!!

So how about we help Adrian? We know his long term goal is to infiltrate pop music by playing their game, but by bringing quality and decency back on the table.

(Adrian: did I get that right?)

A similar tactic can be done in this instance. Let's do a Pop Music Challenge - using a format similar to what has gone on here before. This will expose MacJammers to pop music style in a palatable format. Some MacJammers already know this stuff, but others, I suspect, would love to learn about it if it's presented as a fun learning experience.

What do you think?

I don't even know what Pop Music is anymore - I'm just an Old Guy but I kind of like it. The pressure's off, I can be as lame as I like and I don't have to hide the fact I drink light beer.

And I really don't know what Pop Music is anymore.

I'm not sure it's well defined as a genre. But the challenge could approximate a definition by making the rules say something like entries need to be in the spirit (stylistically) of songs that appear in a specific Top X songs for a certain week (maybe the one from the day the challenge starts). That will give people prototypes to get started.

Let's see what Adrian says about this. I don't want to steal his baby.

I guess I could get behind a Modern Pop Challenge.

Sounds good smoke, thanks for your support on this one. I can't go into much more detail now(i'm typing this from my phone) but like I said I really wanna start a MJ Pop Challenge. When I get back to a computer I'll clarify everything, work out the kinks as best I can, and make this legal according to the rules of MacJams. Thanks C-Ya
