vid or pic on song page
Sunday, April 22 2012 @ 09:52 AM CDT

it would be great if we could do like jarvoid here

http://www.macjams.com/song/73124

only have the vid in the pic spot -- people who want to just do a pic could continue to do that of course Wink

I didn't know a vid could show up at all like he's done it. really adds to the community

oh great song and performance as well!

I likes to inject me some html in my song pages too (see below)... and I really en(jar)void his balalaika work. Ed, you can do this too... it is pretty easy, once you figure it out... just like most things :-)

ANY HTML can be added to the page, except I think iframe. We used it on our FLY page to post an updated mix with the ending fixed. There is no way to post an update of a track except to just delete the old page (and all of it's comments), so we just injected another player (from reverbnation), with the updated mix leaving the original page and track in place. I've seen lots of people doing these things, and I have some flash with a band logo on my profile. Yep allows most html.
Notice the 2nd player with the update. Same method he used to put video on his page.

"There is no way to post an update of a track except to just delete the old page (and all of it's comments)"

a) - edit the first version and add '(old) '. or somesuch, to it's title.

b) - copy and paste the old comments to a comment on the new song.

24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1924. That means it only took 50 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.

YouTube has been providing embedding using < iframe > for quite a while now and it works fine on Macjams, but in the past it might have been blocked?

in this song i used < object > to embed another page (a dynamic map) inside the song page. the effect is similar to what < iframe > does. i suspect i resorted to that trick due to < iframe > being blocked at that time... but i don't remember

It's possible I didn't do the iframe correctly, or maybe they don't let you use it for putting a page inside a page. I was testing adding an iframe to a 4shared folder, to let people upload files to my folder. It works in project pages on my site (so I know it can work), but it did not work here. Now that you mention it I remember making iframe work with youtube, just as you said. Maybe I should try again...

Just adding another player to the page with the update is easier. There is no way (that I know of) to update the audio of an existing page other than this. I guess i should refrain from being so sure. Just suffice it to say that some of the things I tried failed. But still enough works to do some very cool things, just as Ed, noted...

well the pic must be jpeg or gif I think currently I think it would be cool to have the option for it to be a youtube vid Smile but thanks everyone I never knew I could put the actual vid on a song page I've just used a link in the past Wink
