Here's a suggestion:
Saturday, September 22 2012 @ 07:01 PM CDT
Let new members get songs posted in 24 hours rather than an infinite waiting period such as the one I am experiencing. It's more than a little disappointing.

You think YOU are disappointed... the anticipation is killing ME! I shall send a note/nudge to admin right this moment... sheesh, I feel your anxiety. Hang in there, it will show up, then you will have NO waiting period after that.
Of course, in the mean time, you could collaborate with somebody else and start singing on some of their music, that's always fun too! :-) ttfn, Drakonis, off to send a note... |

I appreciate the support. I like the idea of collaborating, and will after I get a few more of my own under my belt.

MacJams... while a great place... Has suffered from a lack of active admin participation.
I know this first hand because as the author of the MJ Player my hands have been tied by their lack of action several times. It is a shame that this same lack of action could be driving away new members because of long wait times for song approval. MacJams clearly needs some member monitors, people that have the power to do a few things like perhaps approve new member songs and delete offensive posts (not members). The admins would still have the ultimate power of course. |

My thought was that this place must be running on it's own, really. Maybe the owners have real jobs that make running it impossible. They could put of advertising to make it profitable. I do think idea of member admins makes sense. I'm part of an art community that does that. Works great.
Might as well wait. It seems like a good community to me. Pamela Devine | Artist . Singer . Songwriter | www.PamelaDevine.com |

i have no idea why this "wait" for first time uploaders has to happen. i remember feeling frustrated by it four and a half years ago when i submitted my first song - so it's been like this for a long time. hopefully somebody has already told you that once your first song is approved, all subsequent submissions will post immediately.
on the "silver lining" side of things, since the music page is currently broken, at least you're not dealing with the frustration of having a newly posted song that can't be accessed in the normally easiest way (clicking it from the music page), and that also can't currently be D/L'd (assuming you've enabled D/L). i'm really feeling badly for people who posted new music right before the music page broke. being at MJ means developing a certain patience and flexibility for things functioning in a less than optimal way. hopefully you'll find those inconveniences a worthy trade-off for the terrific community you will also find here. hang in there - i know i'm not alone in looking forward to hearing your music! my latest: "Blind Love (Seeing Heart)-Orchestral Version" |

Unless I'm completely wrong, the risk for an improper first post or an undesired person's membership is not stronger than any other site ... For the latter anyway, there isn't much one can do ... So why not just doing the opposite of what's happening today ? Let people join without letting them wait for a long time, let their first post be approved as fast as their subsequent ones ... But only react when something wrong happens.
I have the impression that this would keep the admins much less busy with regular admin tasks than as it is today. |

Making new members wait serves to discourage those that sign up to spam the forums. I for one don't miss the posts which encourage me to buy cheap running shoes from China. |
