Makes me wonder if maybe you never played with a decent drummer. And, of course, when it comes to appreciation and criticism, personal opinion rules.

Re:Geting tired of this - be honest please!

So if a person doesn't have access to any musicians, and doesn't have any desire to play live, but can play an instrument like no other or has the ability to sing or writes incredible lyrics or has an uncanny feel for sound, they should make sure never to write or record any music ever because regardless of talent, desire, skill, or joy, nothing they do will ever count if it takes a loop or two to make it happen? And God forbid they do write and record a song, if so much as one person says something positive then that positive thing is obviously a lie?
Somebody needs to add this to the FAQ. There are a lot of people here who are posting songs under the misconception that it's okay to express oneself musically by any means available. Damn their hairy, loopy souls! Regarding "honesty": Tastes differ. No one here is the ultimate authority on what is good and what is bad. There are songs that have a general consensus on either end. But what one person considers great artistry another may consider a waste of sound. I've clicked on top rated songs and hated them. Couldn't see what the others liked so much. But I didn't consider that to be about the song, rather, I felt it was about my ears. Certain things appeal to me, others don't. Every genre has its fans. Some could listen to blues and jazz all day, while that would be torture to others. Some could die happy with synths and electronica and dance music running nonstop. Others would consider that a living hell. Even within genres tastes differ. I adore some folk and dislike others. Jazz is my favorite genre, but there's a lot of jazz I don't respond to. Some singers' voices burrow deep inside of me, and others, well, I can't click off fast enough. The list would be completely different for someone else. So who am I to say someone is being 'dishonest' for praising a song I don't like? When I praise a song I really respond to, am I considered dishonest because someone else didn't like it? Whose permission must I ask before I praise? And whose permission must I seek to use a loop? You gave a couple of genres that were "okay" (for drum loops only, apparently) but I need the full list of genres with yes or no on loops and each and every loop that is acceptable and unacceptable. Have it posted by midnight, please. -- Joanna |

Jeez, Shaky.. you should go into politics. You evade a direct question like the best of them (an oxymoron, I suppose). So again I ask- if I use a drum loop in a song that I write, play guitar, bass and sing melody and harmony how is that NOT a piece of music? No riddles, please. I'm asking a simple, polite question and am only looking for the same type of response. If you can't, that's cool too. I'm sure you are secure enough to admit it if that's the case. You can have or choose a belief that will cause life's experiences to feel and, or be of a more expansive nature... You can choose beliefs that will cause life's experiences to feel or be of a more static nature... You can choose beliefs that will cause life's experiences to feel or be of a more contractive nature... Either way, IT"S ALL YOURS... Cyd |

Sorry but you're wrong. I hate some kind of music (like country, for instance) but i can say if the music has quality or not. I don't vote a song based on my personal taste, but on the quality of the work. Let me give you an example: My favorite musician is Peter Murphy, but if you ask me Who in my opinion is the BEST musician the answer is other for sure, and Peter would come maybe number 100 on the list. I had a Mac and I went back! |

if we suck go join another site, we don't need you here anyways. lol. this post is great. i mean i didn't think someone would complain that a site is active, and has a great community.. i thought that was a good thing, and as for the feedback, well there's always the honest feedback too. i personally rather get both, and get more feedback then just one bad comment haha. i don't think i worded that entirely right.. but atleast i know what i mean, that's all that matters right? we all love MJ so lets all stop fighting, and get along.. wait no that's more ass kissing, well you know what! maybe we enjoy it!! I'm no musician, just hopelessly in love. |
