Re:Homepages

On the same topic, but a slightly different aspect of it, I'd like to suggest that the "Favourite Jams" section be accessed via a link from the profile page rather than appearing in full every time. My list of favourites is quite long, making navigating my page a bit of a pain. I have considered "culling" the list to make my profile page more easily navigable - but where to begin? I faved these (many) songs because I liked them, and I don't want to insult anyone by removing their song from my list. Maybe a link to the list instead of the list itself on the profile page would be tidier.
Just a thought - certainly not of earth shattering importance! Neil News Is Gonna Break - just do it. |

Unfortunately, that one would require work from the Admins. It would be cool if there were a set of links at the top of the artist page that linked to the different segments within the page as all of them can get quite lengthy. Practically everything on the page is dynamic so I doubt it would require them to go out and rebuild all the pages. I wouldn't cull anything. Give the Admins some time to check it out. It'd be a code change and that can't happen instantly. |

I do love the idea of having a "front page" that links to other pages like favourite jams, favourite MacJammers, etc. Like Neil has said, some people's pages are getting a bit too long now. That would certainly tidy things up.
The couple of ideas I posted at the start of this thread - photos and journal/blog - were (in my head) quite simple and small. I still think it would be cool for each member to be able to post, say, up to 10 limited sized photos in a small gallery. And as alluded to above, it could be a secondary page off the front page. The linking to Blogger or some such page is a very good idea, particularly for people who like to write a lot. My original thought was just a simple facility for members to write a couple of sentences every now and then saying what they're up to - music making-wise - for their fans/friends to check in on. Filling the "Bio" section with all that sort of stuff would be a bit "messy". Again, it could be a separate page off the main page. And it would keep people at MacJams.com, rather than sending them off-site to get sucked in to other websites. Behind the scenes boys - If these ideas are too much trouble or not viable for some reason, please let us know and I'll shut up now. |
