Aww crap
Tuesday, February 12 2008 @ 12:53 AM CST

I dropped my 1st gen iPod nano into the toilet (don't ask) only to take it out and find the screen flicker and completely die. I looked online and opened the lil' sucker up to let the moisture out, but I'm afraid she's not gonna make it... is there any hope?

Yeah!

There's hope. I did the same thing with my Treo 680 Smart? Phone. If the water was clean you're in better shape - salt and minerals kill - not water. Be patient before you put the battery back in and try to start.

It's better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done.

Yeah man I totally sympathise, I did exactly the same thing and my lovely wee green iPod was defunct. Bud is right it's salt and minerals that destroy and unfortunately there's plenty of those fuckers in a shitter - my advice... get extremely depressed.

You could try the hair dryer on the open parts. I have washed my memory stick accidentally three times in the washing machine(on a long wash) LOL and found it in bits after it had come out of my shirt pocket. I just let all the parts dry completely and then sellotaped them back together and Viola! It works perfectly. I lost nothing.

Try taking a hair-dryer too it (don't hold it too close).

Good luck!

Put it in a sealed bag with uncooked rice or even better, silicon gel crystals! It'll suck that moisture right out!
