Re:LIOLI 7

Just looking for some minor clarification...

Am I crazy? - Or did the original instructions say 32 beats/120 bpm?

Now if the good doc could forgive my ignorance on theory (I never ate my spinach either), I was assuming the "song" was supposed to be 32 beats long (basically just using the loop to create a longer 32 beat loop).

Now that I'm seeing 8 beats/120bpm, I assume we're talking 8 beats per measure - NOT an 8 beat loop?

Oh, and you can remove the "?" from my name...WillyB is all in ;-D (Nice ice breaker for my first upload!).

I'm not the doctor - but I play one on TV. My understanding is that the loop itself is 8 beats - the tempo is 120 but you can do whatever length song at any tempo you choose. Just make sure you use the loop one way or the other - pervert it as much as you like - just make it part of your song. In past challenges participants had to explain what they did to the loop in order for anyone to hear it. It's kinda like "where's Waldo?". Very cool that you're jumping right in with this.

It's better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done.

Make something musical using the "loop" and post the last weekend in March and leave a note on this thread so all the participants can find your masterpiece.

Since you haven't posted any songs yet, you should post your entry a few days earlier, Maybe March 25 or so. (There is a delay of a few days before your first song can be posted.)

And Welcome to MacJams!

I've just submitted a couple of songs, so I'm getting over that hurdle right now. But thanks for the warning anyroad. I'm going to go listen to the previous contests to get an idea of what to do.

Resident hippie here. We refer to it as a challenge - there are no losers - only winners.
