I hope that Heaven has a plentiful supply of flat-picks ... they're gonna need 'em now.

Play some grass. Smile. Doc was one of those rare musicians who defied the mass culture, enjoyed the respect of his peers, and left behind a body a work that will continue to inspire folks long after his passing.
"Will the Circle Be Unbroken", a project originally organized as a Dirt Band record, became a compendium of modern bluegrass as the sessions spun out of control, and more of the traditionalists replaced the rock-n-rollers. The most magnetic of the cuts find Doc in the middle of things picking out the counter melody behind the banjo or rehearsing the musicians in the studio so the "old endings" on the tunes were re-created.
He was a gifted musician and an icon of traditionalism, let's miss him and play something hot to celebrate his passing... he'd like that alright.

Daug

Man, the guy wrote the book on flat pickin'. I bet he's taking in some sights right now though. God bless you Doc, and thank you.
