I was harsh!
Saturday, June 30 2007 @ 08:02 PM CDT

Peace all. Bill, take care. Many have been frustrated with the junk in the forums, lately. I responded incorrectly to something Mungo posted. I was wrong. I am not the type of person to belittle others. I was trying to be silly. I misread your post as kidding me. So I responded in a silly way.

It's hard to maintain relationships through the keyboard. So I am saying now. Anyone angry with me, I respect that. I hope that it will pass.

Doug

Misunderstandings abound in this type of medium (as I've said many times in the past year). I hope Bill reads your apology/clarification. And kudos to you Doug for owning up to your end of this mistake.

Peace!

Unless I'm missing something, I really don't think you did, and I really don't think you were.

I've been away. I've dropped right into the middle of this thing, whatever it is, and I must have missed something, too, because I just don't haven't spotted any precipitating rudeness, certainly not in anything I saw from you, Doug...

I'm sincerely puzzled by whatever this is...

Here's hoping it blows over naturally... Don't YOU go vanishing... and here's hoping Bill comes back...

well Doug I never took it that way... I read the thread, and I thought that you were refering to the spams.... RIGHT... if ever there was a misunderstanding, I think this woud be be it... and Bill has always been level and good humored... this should be easy to iron out

To be fair, a lot of you posting now were not about when the spamming was at its worst yesterday. Mungo, myself, Rebsie, and many others did a good job at trying to beat the spambot, at least temporarily, but we were fighting a losing battle, given that at the moment Simon is not here to stop spammers from doing their worst. This was a frustrating time and I'm sure Bill felt that quite strongly. Doug's post may have been innocent, and I accept that, but it did display an insentivity and an ignorance to the situation and the hard work of people like Mungo in trying to keep the Forum list under some kind of control. I'm glad Doug has apologised (twice) but I just wanted to explain some of the context and perhaps why Bill responded so strongly.

yes.... yesterday morning was as bad as I've ever seen it... I would have helped, but the day before. a few MJ'ers chastized me for bouncing... they said they found it more distracting than the spam... we didn't get a concensus, but I didn't want to be in their face... I really thought Bill was kidding, because of his good nature... but I also was so frustrated with the spammers that i walked away from the computer...
