alanfraser 10/10 Expensive but hugely flexible and extremely powerful. If you're having trouble finding a really expressive sound for your guitar, seriously consider this software. It runs standalone or as a plug-in to GarageBand or other sequencer application. Use it for guitar, bass, vocals, or whatever.
jonbetter 7/10 Dont get me wrong, the software is FANTASTIC. It has more than everything you want with updates and addons provided for free by NI, so the software is 10/10. the Rig Kontrol, however, is far from perfect. Good integration with the software, but for some reason, they chose to go through analog 1/4 inch cables, and to attach it to your computer, you need stereo inputs (L&R must be seperate). I dont remember seeeing this on the system requirements, so, going home ready to shred on my 12" powerbook, I was PISSED. To make it work now, I have to buy a $150 peripheral... godamn. now you can understand why its a 7. If RK were USB or Firewire, then this would be a perfect 10.
Cornel 8/10 I agree with the Rig Control being a hassle. I got past this with equipment I already owned to save the extra expense, and to be honest, I think it works better. GR is completety programable by MIDI (like all other NI software) and my MIDI keyboard controller with all the knobs and buttons can do much more than just the RigControl. All setings can quickly and eaily be manipulated with the controller, and I have an Expression pedal for my MIDI keyboard and this can be used for Wah-wah and volume etc. The software is better than any other Guitar effect software I have tested (like Amplitube) but it is still a Jack-of-all-trades type of thing. It does EVERYTHING, but it does it all OK, not GREAT! For a good value all-round package for amateur to semi-pro users it does the trick, and its lots of fun and easy to use, but if you want real effects you still gonna have to buy the real thing...
axxe 9/10 I've been using Guitar Rig for all of the guitar sounds on my new CD and this thing is fantastic. I've done a proper review which you can find here: http://anjelblue.com/ni%20guitar%20rig_1.htm You may think that the software/hardware is expensive, but think about the cost of purchasing the amps & effects it emulates....This is an excellent, great sounding piece of pro gear and, with the 1.2 update, an excellent value
