Description:
This is a song about nothing, and how it makes me happy anymore.

Lyrics:
Nothing Makes Me Happy Anymore

Nothing makes me happy anymore
It's not as if I asked for this,
But now I'm not so sure
And nothing makes me feel it
quite the same
I tried to get it back
And then I lost it all again

Nothing makes me happy anymore
I've started to forget what did
And now I'm not so sure
But nothing makes me feel
The way it should
I'd like to tell you why
And if I knew I probably would

Nothing makes me happy anymore
Nothing makes me happy anymore

It's almost like I never mattered
Almost like I'm alone
And now you made me
Drop my ice-cream cone
And now you made me
Drop my ice-cream cone

Nothing makes me happy anymore

Needs bass and maybe some cowbell. Keep bringing it!

Never heard that used in a song? &mdash 05/15/05 - 09:56:07 PM
Ice cream cone?

Cute. &mdash 05/16/05 - 12:46:48 AM
I like the ice cream cone line. Once I was eating an ice
cream cone and walked through a swarm of river flies and
they stuck to it. That made me sad. Oh, it brings back
those feelings. Sniff. This song is fun. Thanks!

Petulant pop &mdash 05/17/05 - 01:08:11 PM
Like it a lot...doesn't take itself too seriously and doesn't
outstay it's welcome. Groovy little pop tune, I dig the vocal
parts!

Conics &mdash 05/18/05 - 12:27:29 PM
Nice, tight composition. The ice cream cone does rather pop out of the lyrics, perhaps because it is the only concrete image among the assorted emotions mentioned in the song. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing - in fact, it allows the story to end on a vivid note. It adds, however, a bit of discoloration: it is not unusual to blame someone else for one's unhappiness - but by including a dropped ice cream cone, that lends an air of petulance to the complaints. Still, I think it works, not only because we forgive the singer for being clueless ("I'd like to tell you why/And if I knew I probably would"), but also because the tone suggests it is to be taken as tongue-in-cheek humor, where a fun interpretation trumps any serious concerns. Enough interpretation - on to the next song.

More rock than pop &mdash 09/13/05 - 08:15:54 PM
This sounds real retro old style rock and roll. Sorry 'bout
the ice cream.... you can only cry over spilled milk. Good
job

Nice Job!! &mdash 02/16/06 - 04:58:59 PM
Well, done, Scotch! If I could vote for you, myself, it would be all 10s, except for the recording part. You should redo that. Other than that, just fantastic.

I love that computer ticking sound, and the happy rhythm. You'd think being unhappy is a good thing!

I like this. I also think the ice cream cone line is great. Your song could use more lines like this.
