Description
When the vanguard of the Sarquessian first appeared, it appeared benign. However, with the destruction of the Palace of Creative Arts, even the ancient order of the Knight-Guardians was caught unprepared. . .

Lyrics
Motherworld

Motherworld…
Night flows into dawn
What's the point going on?
Since the other ones came
Slightly out of the frame.
Time was that there was nobody, playin' out of tune.
But that all changed through darkened skies one rainy afternoon.
(She's leaving.)
Motherworld. . .
Birds fall from the trees
People fall to their knees
It's what everyone sees
They reject all our pleas
Can you see, over there
Is that the one, do you care?
Take them all, everywhere
Move along, don't you despair
Watch the road and mind the glare
One by one or by the pair
Quickly now or this I swear
You'll regret your short affair
That's the way so now beware
I'm afraid I must insist x3
I'm afraid…

Descant:
A light, came down from the sky
For a moment, I did not question why
Perhaps, there was nothing to deny
We could not resist x5
Motherworld
Moving quickly through time
Leaving words out of rhyme
Thoughts come and they go
How could anyone know?
The Dark Ones came, no one to blame but it's too hard to ignore
Things have changed, they're not the same, they're worse than they were before.
(It's over.)
Motherworld . . .
Bright light in the chain
It's so hard to explain
In so great a loss
Does the pain come across?
Motherworld . . .

Very Moody
Bluesy. Pass the shrooms, please. Nice retro, early 70's
style art rock, Snowy!

Yeah...so good
Enjoyed it very much! Wow!
I imagine adding one very expressive part, with a big lead
guitar and drums and ... but that's me :-)

Yeah...so good
Thanks kinar. And yeah, I like the idea of a big guitar/drums part. My only
question is where would you put it? ie, at the end of the spacy centre portion
or as a more up-tempo prelude to the third act, er verse, er part?

Yeah...so good
That's a great question and I'm not absolutely sure what the answer is
offhand. I think either might work… just attempting to give it an
additional instrumental section or part would hugely improve the track, I
think. Hmmmm, I actually like the sound of both ideas and even think
that you could do both - maybe something darker & experimental at the
end of the spacey centre portion and then a more up-tempo bit before
the third act/verse/part. Kinar was the first person to suggest this
specifically and maybe he could make more practical/technical
suggestions than I can. I think he hit the nail on the head by saying
exactly what I thought was missing but couldn't put into words. Anyway,
whatever you try I'd be interested to hear a work in progress.

I have no idea
what this song is about, but it sounds like something bad
has happened. Loved the sounds.

Heh, heh, heh. Yeah, it doesn't look good, eh? Stay tuned. Things are about to
get darker before the dawn . . .

Hints of prog…
but seems a bit repetitive to be a true progressive
rock track. This is probably the most appropriate
MacJams genre for it to appear in but personally I'd
like to hear more going on - more in the way of time
signature changes perhaps, or a bigger shift in the
mood or instrumentation of the piece, or perhaps
even an all-instrumental section? Just some
thoughts. Kinar's idea for an expressive part, with a
lead guitar and drums, might be just the ticket.
Perhaps you could even collaborate on a new version?

Hints of prog…
Gibby, you bring up a couple of interesting points, not the least of which is
the inherent limitation of genre. You are absolutely right in that the genre I
posted it under just seemed closest. I could've gone Other, I suppose, but
that always makes me think of Spike Jones or Captain Beefheart. AC would
probably vote acid rock but there doesn't seem to be that option. I could go
on and on, as I'm sure you could as well, but I'm more interested in your
agreement with kinar so I'll reiterate my question — where do you see the
intrumental break and what tempo?
Thanks for your input.

Hints of prog…
Absolutely… it's more prog/art rock than anything else in the MacJams
genre list so its apt that you put it here. As for the other point, I'll post
another comment under your reply to Kinar.

Cool song
Have you ever heard the Dutch band "The Nits"? This song
could have come straight off one of their albums.
