Great collab. This is really wound up tight. There's a lot
going on throughout the piece but the straight-up melody
keeps it from feeling too busy. Nice groove... upbeat.
Great rhythm sounds. The vocals are lovely. I'd be curious
to hear a version with more a little more Joan Osbourne
"rough soul" character. This one's a keeper. You two blend
famously!

This was one fine piece of work, you two! There's a
lot to love about this one. I could go on and on. My
only crit is that fairy beth's voice, even though still
wonderful, seems a little light compared to the
forceful music. It didn't impair my enjoyment of the
tune, however. A definite download for me...

Wonderful soundscape and the vocals blend into it
really well. Because the vocal doesn't dominate the
mix it's hard to hear the lyrics ... but that doesn't
spoil the loveliness of the overall effect. Very slick
and well produced.

You two are doing some really good stuff together.

This thing rocks. Amazing arrangement. Drums are very
cool. And the whole thing is perfectly complimented by

I have to agree that FB's voice is a little dwarfed by the
overall 'sound' of the piece, but that's my only nit.

I agree there's a little imbalance between the instruments
and the vocals. But I suspect it's a slight mixing tweak,
because the two of you work together so well. A beautiful
mix of textures ... and the the backing voices are truly
incredible. Excellent, original work.

the acoustic guitar is unusual in this kind of music ... it is
very good ... i like the "heavy" dark feeling of the
accompaniment ... the vocals do not appear to fit
optimally, as mentioned ... lovely voice however ... and
imaginative music and mix ... i get the impression that
you are a celebrity on this site ...

Some terrific elements here, great groove, love the city
walls as mountians metaphor. Some mild criticisms
(please take these with a large grain of salt because the
track is really cool): I'm not a huge fan of the snare sound,
I also thought the 32nd beat (I think) Aphex Twinish
drums underneath some of the vocals distracted, and
finally, the ending isn't quite as cool as the beginning (I
guess that's how it goes in life also!).

not that it really matters, but the mountains thing is kind of only half a
metaphor as the city i wrote about is actually surrounded by mountains.
anyway... just thought i mention!

The intro builds nicely to FB's vocals which suit this mix perfectly. Liked the gospel like background vox as well. Crisp sounds intricately weaved throughout. Great collab guys.

This is really nice. The words aptly fit the mood. Great line - "I know you're living well/our lives are parallel." My only critical feedback is I think the story is a bit underdeveloped. For example, I want to know why the singer can't escape. How did they get to traveling on separate roads? Overall, feeling is perfect, but the lyrics aren't nearly as dense compared to the complexity of the music. This isn't necessarily bad, and what is here works, but it seems there is potential for more.

Unfortunately the track of voice, in origin (Mp3 file), was not perfect as
quality of sound... background noise... etc..
This is the best that I have been able to make with the vocal material that I
arranged...

the thing with dance tunes, is that the lyrics are best left simple and not too
in-depth. dance tunes are meant to be for dancing to (obviously) and
therefore, i find it best not to go too deep into the 'story' or to let the lyrics
become to emotionally intense. I think the music is the most important part
of a dance track, and the vocals are usually really just there to to add some
variation and melody....anyways...thats why i havnt expanded too much on
the lyrics - the 'story'.

Then, Fairy Beth, according to what you set out to do, you have written a
good set of lyrics for this dance piece. The intention of any feedback I post is
meant to be positive, not negative, and it should be rejected if doesn't fit the
situation - as was the case here. Nonetheless, I found your comments on
composition interesting - that you had purposefully composed a generalized
story that wouldn't trip up those busy dancing.

Needs better mic'ing of Rebsie with better equalization
and less ambience. She is behind the wall of sound
instead of slightly forward of it. Other than that, GREAT!
Good mix of instruments and rhythms. Syncopation is the
mother of refreshment.
