Description:
A duet with the Boston-area blues singer Lisa Marie. An ancient blues song about obssesion and loss. The modern day version of obssesion is often pretty scary. The modern feeling of loss seems much sharper. We tried to convey this in our updated version

This is big time talent
George Carlin once said "White men should not be allowed
to play the blues". This is one of the few areas in which I
disagree with George. :)
thanks for sharing

George Carlin also &mdash 05/19/05 - 09:44:01 PM
had seven words you could never say on TV. I think only 2 still apply! The
blues is absolutely universal....a gift to help get some of it out!!!

Thanks for the kind comments.

True blues. &mdash 05/19/05 - 11:45:46 PM
I loved the vocal quality of Lisa Marie. I didn't like the
effect on her voice- it made it seem less intimate.
Nonetheless, I really liked this tune all around. Well played
and well sung! Very professional.

True blues. &mdash 05/20/05 - 05:02:04 AM
Thank you so much for Lisa Marie! She is a way cool and soulful singer. I
really didn't process her voice, just some reverb. I'm learning how to record
vocals...I find it difficult. Thanks so much for the kind words. I t means
everything!

Real nice to hear all these tasty blues players popping up,
And you are tasty. Lisa Marie is one soulful singer! Are you
playing those volume swells with your pinky or a pedal?
Keep them coming!

Pinky &mdash 05/20/05 - 01:21:59 PM
I also have a volume swell effect on the Line 6 amp I use that's really neat.
Doesn't sound like pinky or pedal. Thanks for the kind words!!!!

interesting quality &mdash 05/20/05 - 09:08:49 AM
you make sultry atmosphere in this ... like a dream ...
everything sounds far away ... excellent vocals ... guitar is
soulful in the extreme ... drums sound "up front" whilst
everything else is far back in my head ... do you mean to
do this? ... in whatever case is interesting effect ...

I bow to Lisa Marie -- one heckuva voice! Blows me away.
Once again, your incredible guitar is the perfect
counterpoint. I'm still listening as I type and Lisa Marie is
killing me. I love this!

Delicious deep blues &mdash 10/10/05 - 11:31:35 AM
Great guitar playing (as usual), wonderful soulful singing. My critique
is that the voice seemed to have a different "ambience" than the rest of
the band, so she sounded like a later overdub into the mix, instead of
singing live with the group... not sure why or technically what it was
that made it sound that way to me. Maybe others with more mixing
experience can make suggestions. Maybe because she was panned
slightly to the right, and the reverb didn't carry into the left side much
or at all? Sounded like she was in a different room. Unfortunately that
did detract from the overall recording a little, not much. But the music
and singing were wonderful. Loved this song!

Drakonis
