Lyrics

julia:
full of little tragedies
and pharmaceuticals
to keep her here awhile...
until they find their way
inside her brain:
like high-tension wires
soaked with rain...

julia:
calls me in a manic state...
says she's going out the way
she came into my life:
on a white sheet she lies
within inches of her life
-just wishing everyday pain goodbye...

julia:
i know sometimes you've felt betrayed
and who am i to blame you
if you didn't stay around...
rushing up to meet the ground
that seemed so far away
-but now it seems like yesterday...

Such texture
in your lyrics. It would be easy in a song like this to
scratch the surface, but these lyrics take us much deeper,
even though they are relatively brief. I often look for some
redemptive quality in each song, and usually complain if it
is missing, but in this case, no complaints. Another track
for your upcoming CD.

sad whispers
i enjoy the way you nearly whisper vocals ... dramatic
effect works well for lyrics ... guitar chords haunting to
match ... i wish you build intensity more throughout piece
... almost there but not quite ... you start to do this with
strings but needs more build up ... maybe "break" in
middle with contrasting music and a high point? ... like
the material at end when you sing over and over: "every
day, pain" ... but could be earlier ... nice piece though ...

Wonderful
Particularly nice lyrics. I really like the imagery you choose,
like "high-tension wires soaked with rain...". Really well
done all around on this one. Another download for me.

Jonx, PUT YOUR NAME ON IT! I keep downloading your
music and finding that you have left the tags blank; no artist
name or anything. As I've told you before, unless you want
your music to be distributed around the world via the net
without any sort of attribution to yourself (jonx or real name)
then you need to at least PUT YOUR NAME ON IT.

Unless you found out the answer already...

When you export your song to iTunes, go into iTunes and edit the info right
there. Get something under Artist, Album, and whatever else you want. Also,
make sure the title is the same as what you posted it as at MacJams. I often
post something under a new, better song name, but when downloaded it has
the original name I gave it when I started the project. In other words, a name
that often has nothing to do with the song at all.

Hope this helps. Good song btw.

You can also set Garage Band to automatically put the info in when you export.
You'll find that somewhere in the GB prefs. Because your computer is apparently
setup with the user being called Admin rather than your own name or
something else GB uses the system user name by default if you don't set it
yourself. That's why your songs' tags read Artist: Admin, Album: Admin's
Album.

In iTunes I also like to add a © and an email address into the comments section
of the tags.

more big points
You use such a nice palatte of sounds that blends so well
between the bass, guitar and vocals. It gives all your
songs this lovely enclosed, hermetic feel. They're all so
perfectly formed, they deserve a bigger audience.

deep.....
i truly liked the vocal delivery....somber enuff for the
story...the overall volume mix could have been a tad higher
but that does'nt take away from this great song......great
work!......

Nice Song
Loved it from a listener (not a song writer). It was really
nice however I wanted to hear the second verse or third
go up in octive and emotion. IMHO I think that would
make it BAM! up a notch.

Love this. I read the lyrics first and thought it might be a bit like Billy Joel's "Laura". Excellent dude.

was told of your julia
by Einarus, since one of my songs is similar (and is also about a Julia).

Absolutely glad I did. The lyrics are very well constructed and the laid back performance has such a bittersweet quality. I love that last goodbye. Set me crying.
