Jess Franco made a biopic of my life

Description
I decided to record a memorable song from an old band - a kind of rock-jazz number. I'd been trying this for a week, but I could not record the loud guitar parts without them sounding a bit boomy and clangy.

So I said, 'Forget it - I'm going to strip this down and make it more subtle and jazzier'.

Hey presto - an hour or two later and all done. Well, not quite - this is still in rough sketch territory, but okay progress nevertheless.

The song is about wasting my time as a geeky teenager watching eurotrash horror movies and being at times a bit obsessive to the point that perhaps Jess Franco might like to make a biopic about me. Jess Franco is a director of almost 200 movies, most of them barely watchable - although many had funky cheese-jazz soundtracks.

The lyrics are very poor, but I didn't change them much.

Mrs Topo makes a an appearance again towards the end. Don't worry, ladies - the dialogue is completely staged. I always do the dishes!

Lyrics
Uncle Jess wontcha play that cheesy jazz
It's a neat composition but there's filth on the screen
I'm gonna corrupt myself

And I'm a'stayin in all summer long
I got thrid-generation videos
You're not gonna see me on the football field

Let the camera zoom in on the action
Oh my god - I'm only 14
I shouldn't have seen what I've seen
I'm goin to hell, I corrupted myself with Eurosleaze.

And I can't look at a nun the same way...

And the black eyed stare of Soledad Miranda
And Lina - oh yeah!
I wanna be murdered by Countess Karlstein
She can suck the life out of me
Oh my god, I'm only 15...

Uncle Jess those things you sold me
They just weren't nice
Won't you come and make a biopic about me
I'll make the soundtrack if you like

Adddicted to video-drivel
With no kind of social life

Don't you know I-I-I-I

Can't look at a nun the same way. no

(i never shoulda been so prolific, you never shoulda been so prolific)

Oh my god - I'm only 14
I shouldn't have seen what I've seen
I'm goin to hell, I corrupted myself with Eurosleaze.

And I can't look at a nun the same way. no

gb2. Bass was faked with speedster, but sounds naff here. My kingdom for a jazz bass - even a squier would do.

Jazzabuse!
Good stuff Eltopo, sounds like Orange Juice playing a
lounge jazz gig. Nice guitar sound. You write really good
quirky lyrics... I like the brief female vocal (sample).
This is a cool original track

Vive le jazz!
Good composition and you get high marks from me for turning a guitar into a bass! : )

Ending was a little flat.

I dig it!
I like the jazz/funk style. The vocals are fun and love it
when the wifey comes in. The lyrics are interesting to say
the least...I enjoy the production values here and think
this track is cool.

Sloppy and raw but very cool...
... and I like it. Funny lyrics. I like how it suggests so much
without really saying anything outright, like in "And I can't
look at a nun the same way. no".

"And I can't look at a nun the same way..."
hahaha! Sweet, funny song of everyday male teenage
hormonal angst. Mrs Topo is a star. I like the ending. It
suits.

LOL
Many of Jess's films could be mined for ... um ...
interesting ideas for songs. I was exposed at a young age
too ... I think it may have been Awful Dr. Orloff.
Cool improvised feel.

Yeah ...
Lovely laid back groove ... nice confident vocal for
the most part, and still retaining the spontaneous
feel which you're so good at getting into your songs.
Very entertaining.

Right, now get on with those dishes.

Great fun!
I liked this -- there's something very endearing about the
lyrics, the vocal performance and Mrs. Topo. The whole
thing works in a raw kind of way. Sometimes, that rawness
is part of the heart of a piece of music. In this case, I think
that applies. Very nicely done!
