Lyrics
Verse #1
At the end of the day,
phoned my wife, I’m on my way.
Think I’ll stop and have a beer.
She said, that’s OK dear.
I walked into the room,
of my favorite saloon.
The bartender said there’s some kid in your seat.
I said, that’s OK Pete.
He looked so out of place,
a tear rolled down his face.
I said, you OK you’re lookin kinda tight?
He said, yeah I’m alright.
I’m cryin about my wife,
too young to lose her life.
And as he spoke my ears began to ring.
I heard angels singin.
Chorus.
I wish we had more time.
I’d love to make you mine.
Now until the end of time.
A hard as I’ve tried.
Through all the tears I’ve cried.
I’ll never see you comin home to me.
So sad it’s over, my broken heart.
You know I love you.
Today I brought this candle home with me,
it’s in the window. my broken heart.
Oh I miss you.
Verse #2
We shared a jug of ale.
I listened to his tale.
Hit and run she was 19 when she died.
And that’s when I cried.
My wife was in my head.
Words I’ve never said.
If she was gone I’d be here all alone.
I had to get home.
I heard an angel song.
How love can be so strong.
I’ll hold her in my arms and then I’ll say.
You know I love you.
Chorus.
Verse #3.
I’ll never see that kid.
Or thank him for what he did.
To remind me of the love I feel for you.
I’ll just say thank you.
Many years have now gone by.
Sometimes I sit and cry.
An angels song keeps playin in my head.
Now that my wifes dead.
Chorus.
Ending.
Today I brought this candle home with me.
It’s in the window, my broken heart.
Oh I miss you.
It’s in the window, my broken heart.

This version worked for me CJ. I have no other
suggestions except to say that you might want to give
some consideration to Vic's comments on version 1. Vic's
a crusty old bugger (tell'im I said so) but he's pretty sharp
musically.
Now, get out there and comment/vote on some other
people's tunes.
Keep coming back, it works pal.
