Description:
Well...with the Sonoma Jazz Festival taking over the town this weekend, I thought I'd better pitch in and do my part. Actually...I cleaned my office this morning, so to celebrate, I thought I'd better get to the keystation before it once again got buried in paper. BlueGreenJazz...the result of a full 45 minutes of work...or, not work, as it turns out. All live, no loops, except the one that's tied around my brain.

Hope you have some aspirin handy, didn't mean to hurt anyone. Pounding rythm
came from pounding the keys on my keystation, don't have anything else
hooked up to play at the moment, so it'll have to do. Thanks WG!

It's not funny... &mdash 05/25/05 - 02:49:04 PM
However, I love when it's so good to my ear that it makes
me smile into laughter. LOL! You do this to me often
enough...
Nothing more to say except,- congradulations!

nice &mdash 05/25/05 - 02:49:49 PM
Pretty nice for 45 minutes of work. Some things could be
tightened up a little and I think some variation in the
enderlying synth would do a lot for it. Cool vibe going on. [ Reply to This ]
nice &mdash 05/25/05 - 03:04:08 PM
Thanks PG...tightening it up would be a good thing. Everytime I go back and try
to edit though...I end up recording something new. Damn...wish I had some
patience...or talent, one or the other would surely help.

45 minutes? &mdash 05/25/05 - 04:27:47 PM
I can't believe you can whip out a song in 45 minutes. I
love the surround sound feel to this. I'm listening in
headphones and keep turning around because I think
there are noises behind me! Cool. [ Reply to This ]
Heh &mdash 05/25/05 - 04:46:18 PM
what a great funky track here. Definitely pulsing and off
beat thing going on here.
I like the combination of horn and flutes although at
times it gets very busy. Overall, a great track for 45 mins
work
Cool

Heh &mdash 05/25/05 - 05:07:34 PM
Good point....it does get a little busy..but I don't edit. I just play it once through
and call it done. Everytime I edit a song...it gets worse, so I've learned to just
leave them the way they spill out.

45 minutes, eh? &mdash 05/25/05 - 05:26:32 PM
Pretty decent for that amount of time. It does have
an infectious beat and a nice interwoven melody
line. More variation would be nice to create more
interest. But hey... 45 minutes of work... pretty darn
good for that.

Impressive if this is done only with your keypad and no loops...? Its jazz allright and groovy too. Pretty dizzy stuff yeah;-)
Put it on the radio, its great stuff with the jazz festival and all:-) [ Reply to This ]
some creative 45 minutes &mdash 05/25/05 - 05:39:57 PM
In reality, it only took me 30, but by the time I got it uploaded to MJ and added
that fab photo of Ocean Beach...it was 45. I think I'll spend a full hour on the
next one.
Thanks fellas!

Pulsating &mdash 05/25/05 - 05:57:01 PM
sounds... wow! Excellent improvisational jam... true Jazz
spirit. At least I think it is- I really know nothing about the
genre- just enjoy listening to all the different styles and
interpretations. This was no exception! [ Reply to This ]

You know...I marvel at this place, that a hack like me can throw some music up
and have people listen and comment. What a cool thing. I play music for
fun...it's the only reason I play, and this place...well, you guys definitely make it
fun! Thanks.

Reminds me of Soon over Babaluma by Can...nice pulsing
sound you have got going there. Not bad at all for 45mins
work!

Okay... &mdash 06/01/05 - 09:17:44 PM
Here's how cool this song is...
It ANNOYS me, it plays with the beat, and some of it feels
"off" and then it's "on" again, at least in my head, and just
when I think I'm getting it, it goes somewhere or DOESN'T go
somewhere, contrary to my expectations...what an
ANNOYING song...
And I keep coming back to it... [ Reply to This ]

Desert Jazz &mdash 06/12/05 - 10:15:18 AM
Sounds more like a signature tune for the Sonoma Jazz Festival, to me. I'm no Dr. Phil, but maybe there's a native American influence to your rhythm section. Kind of has a war drums feel with the only other true american art form added, jazz (horns). You have more going on here than you realize, Blaine. :) I think this has commercial potential. Great use of those difficult (GB?) horns. I find them hard to work with. I love the spontaneous creativity in this tune. 45 minutes? Wow! Nice job! [ Reply to This ]
Desert Jazz &mdash 06/12/05 - 10:22:40 AM
Thanks Scorp. Commercial appeal? Wow...don't know about that, but it sure
makes me feel good. Oh..and regarding more going on than I know...that's for
sure, because I have no idea what I'm doing. I think you're right about the
Indiginous American influence though, I was born in South Dakota, and have
always had a thing for native American music. As far as the GB horns go...well,
it's all in the wrist! [ Reply to This ]

Nice blaine
Your going to have to play some of your stuff on your show!
Like those horns too.
Sets a nice tone for the festival!
Good going, nice job. Blaine the multi tasker.
