Description:
Piano improvisation for Nino #1.
Acoustic piano, live, no edits. Recorded directly into GB. I'll apologize in advance for the recording quality, my $10 Radio Shack lapel Mic doesn't handle the low dbs all that well.
This is a loose improvisation on a longer composition I wrote for my son Sebastian. When I feel my heart start to implode from the pain, I play this to relieve the pressure.
Your life is the window through which I view the world. You are my Shaman.

I miss you every moment of my life.

Thank you to everyone who stopped, listened and
commented on this piece. As personal as this is, it was
not an easy thing for me to post...

It pleases me that you enjoy it...and perhaps feel
something from it as well. When I would play my guitar
late at night, I knew Sebastian would lie awake in his bed
and listen. He loved life, he loved music...and he loved to
listen to me play.

After his death, I bought this old Franklin Baby
Grand...and started composing music for piano. The piano
was a gift from him...the music I play is a gift to him.

What you feel in this music is love, it is life, it is Sebastian.

Shaman on me &mdash 06/01/05 - 11:15:21 AM
Hey, this is good. A new room of The Blaine revealed. A
quiet, introspective room. With walls that sometimes start
to press inward (like in those Egyptian pyramid thriller
movies) but whose motion is countered by melodious
keystrokes. The salve. The emollient. The tonic.

what mic you recorded this with. It is beautiful. That 76 year old Franklin still wants to sing. Thanks for sharing this one here.

I find myself listening, feeling... taken into your music, maybe into your world. Bravo. Through pain we find wisdom.

good for you.... &mdash 06/01/05 - 08:24:39 PM
....you got that piano mic'd and recorded something! ;)
And I'm so glad that you did. This is a lovely piece, and
reminds me of those times when I used to just sit down
at the piano and improvise to my heart's content.

Very, very nice. Thank you for posting this and sharing
this with us, Blaine :)

Remarkable &mdash 06/01/05 - 08:49:55 PM
Blaine- I know how hard it was for you to post this
extremely personal song. It is a wonderful and touching
piece of music. I also know the pain and am glad you have
a way to work through it.

Keep the faith, brother! Peace.

The power of music...as one who loves to sit and compose
piano music, this piece makes me close my eyes..taking
me directly to your heartfelt pain...the expression or your
playing is kindred. Thank you for posting this....it has
truly moved me in more ways than I could express.
Wonderful job.

Thanks for sharing a talent I didn't know you had &mdash 06/02/05 - 12:39:38 AM
I didn't know you had "the gift" Blaine.
Very, very reflective quality to this music.
Blaine is a renaissance man, so many talents.
Wow, no edits- good going!
Blaine your going to have to start wearing web-sun glasses
around here so you don't get overwhelmed by all the MJ
groupies.

Just terrific, bravo Dj-pianist, not necessarily in that order.

Didn't know you had it in you &mdash 06/02/05 - 04:06:00 PM
Blaine, this is excellent. You play so well and the fact that
you improvised this shows you are a real creative force.
Reminds me of Keith Jarrett's improvised piano concerts.
It sure would be nice to hear this recorded with a mic that
captures the full range. Still, it's a great pleasure to listen to.

truly heartfelt &mdash 06/05/05 - 12:20:18 PM
This kind of tune -- piano improvisation, on a REAL piano
no less! -- is relatively rare here on MacJams. I am very
glad to listen to this now.

Your emotions shine through strongly on this piece; it
communicates directly with the heart. (I've always enjoyed
doing this kind of piano improvisation, too.)

There's nothing quite like the spontaneity of
improvisation. It shines a very important color in the
musical spectrum. Thank you for reminding me with this
wonderful piece.

Your piano has a lovely, old-timey sound. I think that you
captured it very well with that inexpensive mic, actually.

I hope to hear more of this kind of thing from you. Thank
you for sharing it, and for sharing your feelings.

Namaste.

The depth of my pain is matched only by the breadth of my love. They are one in
the same, measured only against each other.

Thank you for the comment.

Aside from the mic issue it's a wonderful and magical piece. I can feel the love.
