Description:
Clear the streets, his spurs are a janglin.

****
In the book of mormon, there is a son of a great prophet named alma called "alma the younger", in one chapter of The Book Of Mosiah it reads in verse 10:
And now it came to pass that while he was going about to destroy the church of God, for he did go about secretly with the sons of Mosiah seeking to destroy the church, and to lead astray the people of the Lord, contrary to the commandments of God, or even the king.

11. And as I said unto you , as they were going about rebelling against God, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto them and he descended as it were in a cloud: and he spake as it were with a voice of thunder, which caused the earth to shake upon which they stood:
12. and so great was their astonishment that they fell to the earth and understood not the words which he spake unto them.
13. Never-the-less he cried again, saying : Alma , arise and stand forth, for why persecutes thou the church of God? For the Lord hath said: This is my church, and I will establish it: and nothing shall overthrow it , save it is the transgression of my people.

In the book of Alma, which is in the next section (book) it reads that this Alma the younger after being so (rebellious) baptizes thousands of people for Jesus Christ himself.

Alma chapter 4, verse 7:
one part reads: "They were baptized by the hand of alma"

In verse 5 in one section it reads:
"three thousand five hundred souls" were baptized.

He rides into town...
on a Black horse. Dusty, dirty, and just plum mean. He's looking for the gang who shot his best friend and burned his house to the ground. They say there are none as free as those who have nothing left to lose. His mind is focused on one thing and one thing only. Find them and make them pay. He's not just looking to shoot them, he wants them to suffer the way he's suffered these past three years. Their pain and blood are the only things that will quench his thirst for vengeance...

That is the vision I had while I listened. Well done!
I really liked this a lot. Thanks for the heads up.

Rattlesnake rustlin'!
So Bill... is there any genre you're NOT good at?

This is great... I *loved* the rattle-fret-snake hissing, this
song has that dirty raw tumbleweed taste, but with
TheTiler signature blended in smoothly. Loved the
melody, great guitar playing... the only critique I have is
one string sounded a little strong and boomy (midrange?)
in the recording, but otherwise, well-recorded. 8-[7/8]-8

Yet another TilerTune I just gotta run down(load), hog-tie

Picturesque and polished, with pregnant pauses and
pliant pacing. Among the most painterly pastorales you've
posted. Plaudits for a proficient and pure performance.

Peerless pastiche
You're right, Pistol Packin' SyncoPatient -- "Pastorale" has too pleasant a
connotation. This depicts gritty, gunslinging meanness at high noon on the
main street of Deadwood. It is a "pastiche", however: the imitation of the
style of a previous work of art. Unlike a parody, a pastiche is not making fun
of the original. Pastiche can also mean a medley of different materials, forms,
motifs, etc. Bill Furner has proven himself to be capable of many styles of
music. He is Peerless Pastiche as well as a creative wellspring in his own right.

it's not my place...
...to comment on the song. I liked it. But then it's what you do, isn't it? But I will comment about the production.

It's a simple piece tech-wise but I think you need to adjust the EQ slightly - if indeed you have any on here at all. Basically you need to scoop out some bottom end to get rid of that bass (& sub-bass) resonance. Try scooping out from 450hz (-5db as a starting point?) and cut off at 100hz.

This should help a lot. Otherwise great.

Be cool,

Pie

Almost missed this one...
...and I'm glad I didn't...

It has a lot of the best things I enjoy in the playing of
Steve Stills and Peter Green and Lindsay Buckingham...

Reminds me a bit of "The Chain", a bit of Stills' "Bluesman"
from Manassas...and I mean both of those references in a
complimentary way...

Nice tune, nicely played, with a nice sense of drama...just
enough tension...yet a lightness in there, too...

As a reference point, on the system hooked up to my
computer this doesn't need a bass EQ rolloff...it's very full
and warm, very much sounding like a good, solid spruce
guitar with a drop-D tuning...it doesn't (on my set-up)
have that thunk-thunk-thunk that a bass heavy Travis
pick thing can get...it's got enough but not too much, if
you know what I mean...

It's funny, I just looked up at the top of the page, and this
isn't what I would normally think of as "New Age
Acoustic". It's some other cool thing...

Nice job all around...
thetiler said 1490 days ago (June 5th, 2005)
Almost missed this one...
Thanks EJh

Ya, I changed it right after I read you statment about what category. I just put it
in Folk.

As for as eq. I try to really work on this. But it is a challenge because of
fingerpicking needs to be closer in a way than hard notes with the bass.
Especially light guaged strings. The lighter the 1,2strings the more the mic
needs to be closer. But that can conflict with loud attacks on the strings,
especially the bass notes.

Really do appreciate it. As for as talent, a lot of it is just tons of repetition. I feel
like i'm not a person that has a photographic memory or was the brilliant kid in
school, so I had to make up for it I guess by just constant, year in and year out
repetition of music I like to play on the guitar.
