Description:
From the same collection of *live* acoustic music as "Daisy's song". A very personal song that didn't even fully understand itself till years had passed. 1 acoustic, 1 vocal, 1 mic, 1 take.

Lyrics:
Hey there my dear I see the
Sun is setting on
All the pain the world has
Offered you

And the morning sun when it
Comes around it's gonna
Shine on your freedom bound
Eyes

And how I longed to weep for you
To heal your pain
But my broken heart still needs to
Learn to cry

And how I wanted to rise up and
Share your burdens I would have
Carried you through but my
Back is frail

Well I've watched the Lord as He's
Carried you further than I could have
Ever dreamed to

And now He's
Taking you further still to the
Place of rest, to the place
You've been praying for
For so very long

Painful, beautiful, like life... &mdash 06/04/05 - 10:00:53 AM
Such an excellent piece, delivered with so much emotion I
almost feel like I should not be 'eavesdropping.'

Wow.

This is an excellent recording. Simple is not easy to do
well. Well done, hammhock.

This was very well done. A melancholy song delivered with
emotion and sincerity. Excellent lyrics and passion!

Your voice has an expressive, yearning quality which
works very well with these great lyrics.

Your impassioned guitar playing fits it perfectly.

This song is simple with using just vocals/guitar, yet it is
wonderfully rich and complex in musical content and
execution.

This performance truly exemplifies the word "song" to me.

Great artwork, too.

I'm glad you like it. I struggle significantly with my lyrics, always have. It seems
like for every solid lyric there is an entire journal worth of crud. It's always nice
to hear when they come through well. Thanks for the comments.

Nice guitarr sound as well reminds me a little of Ryan Adams

MacJams is overflowing... &mdash 06/07/05 - 09:18:23 AM
with artists stepping all over each other to try and prove
who is technically the most brilliant...they all sound the
same to me...very few songwriters around here. Very few
storytellers. I rarely comment anymore. Got tired of the
same flowery BS. But I felt compelled to comment on this
one. You write and perform songs that mean something.
Absolutely superb. Some of the best I've heard since I've
been a member. Daisy is one of my favorites also. Thanks
for commenting on my tunes BTW. Thanks for sharing
your music here.

Reminds me a little of Chris Whitely, one of my favorites. Now you are too. Very very good song and performance.

To those who don't like this song..... &mdash 06/08/05 - 04:46:19 PM
Folks, I don't mind harsh votes. I've even dished a few out.
But never without leaving a comment as to why. I'm not here
to complain about the few who have brought the score down
on this song, I just want to know what you don't like about it.
There may be a very valid opinion out there that could help
me grow as a song writer. Of course, if it was just a couple
of bombers, well, not much can be done about that.

Peace.

To marvel &mdash 06/30/05 - 11:30:15 AM
Man, I almost missed this gem. What an outstanding
performance. You have taken a simple progression and
given it depth thru your passion and skill. So honest, so
moving, so well done. You have song about frailty with
such strength, about vulnerability with such care, about
answers with questions still ringing in your voice. This is a
marvelous song and a marvelous recoding.

This is what I love best. Like being in your living room and
hearing you feel it for the first time, as if it is coming to you
fresh. Really good. So, when am I invited over for the real
thing?

Excellent songwriting...full of emotion. The pain and anguish comes
through your voice and is very effective in its rawness. 9-8-9-9!

You have created a beautiful expression of yourself with this song. It
indeed seem to be much much more than a sum of it's parts. It's a
multicolored quilt made of simple materials. I love the open strings you
let ring out in your chording, and the way your voice floats around on top.
Very unique voice. It touched me. Thanks for writing it!

Beautiful song... &mdash 11/08/05 - 07:55:57 AM
...beautiful performance.

You've got a great voice!!! And it's a great song... raw and unpolished, and I love it this way. Much more emotional that the average overproduced typical ballad...

One of my faves now...

songcraft is sometimes absent at this sight because of these techno
toys.... no problem here... I love the vunerability of the vocal
