Description:
A melancholic, laid back song built around a classical orchestration and an acoustic drum in the distance.
There's a Theremin solo I'm very proud of in the song's special.

Lyrics:
Sunday morning,
saw you hanging by a thread,
spinned with a magic ply.

Eerie weather,
whos not able to complete,
led us to pass you by.

Missing streams
clashes through the ocean,
takes time to unify.

In your daydreams,
butterflies in light blue sky,
Caught in a lullaby,

Seems like a dream,
more a nightmare than a dream,
whispering another sigh.

We got over
this misunderstanding;
some thoughts are hard to die.

Hardware:
Moog Theremin
Fender Rhodes
Yamaha TRB-JP 6 Strings Bass, DI'd
Marinella on vocals

Software:
Pro Tools LE 6.7
NI Kontakt
NI Elektrik Piano

Mood Setting......... &mdash 06/09/05 - 07:35:05 AM
Very well done. The music speaks for itself as I was not expecting what I heard. It started me in a different direction............
I'll be in the wings listening.........

excellent &mdash 06/09/05 - 01:27:20 PM
This is gorgeous. I could go on and on about its qualities
but it's not necessary. The music is extraordinary from all
angles. For me this is both technically and artistically
stunning. You obviously are professionals. I, and I'm sure
many others, would be delighted in hearing more from you
and more about your process, and would love to get some
constructive feedback on our music. You obviously know a
lot about how to get professional results.

Welcome to MacJams.

some wonderful orchestral loops &mdash 06/09/05 - 01:43:05 PM
This is a very imaginative combination of orchestral loops
accompanying your expressive vocals.

I am very curious how you created these loops, if they are
indeed loops at all. The repetitive quality of the music
makes it sound that way, at least.

The Native Instruments in Kontakt are rich and full. I have
them on my musical notation program in Sibelius, but
cannot use them like you have here. You achieve a VERY
nice sound with it!

The accompaniment sometimes overpowers your more
understated vocals, through my headphones anyway. I
would bring down the orchestra and highlight your
excellent voice more prominently in this mix.

Some very nice musical ideas and textures here.

Good work!

yes! &mdash 06/09/05 - 01:47:54 PM
Is that a real orchestra I am hearing? I think I need a
Q-tip. This is a rich extension of mood pulled, in
part, from the trip hop 90s. Very well done. It made
me all shivery inside. I agree with Peter - I hope you
comment on some of our tunes, here! We could
learn a thing or two from you...

All I can say is.. &mdash 06/09/05 - 02:22:00 PM
This is probably some of the best music on this site.

Wow, great production! Once again the vocals are exceptional!

Thanks for posting this!

DL/10s!

Very good soundscape &mdash 06/09/05 - 02:24:39 PM
Rich, powerful, smooth, melancholic and poetic. Not much
to say really - perhaps I would also suggest bringing forward
the beautiful vocals where needed and make a little bit more
room for contrast throughout the song by doing so... This is
truly awesome though! Welcome to macjams...

A stunning track &mdash 06/09/05 - 04:55:03 PM
Just listened to your other song (Othelia's song) and was bowled over by that too. You have exceptional talent and have generated something very original here. Delicious vocals. Another downoad for my chillout collection. Thanks for sharing.

enchanting &mdash 06/09/05 - 05:34:36 PM
some of those loops have been around for a while but it's
okay. you've dusted them off and laced them with a lovely
vocal and offered a smooth arrangement. sweet.

Words fail me (almost)! &mdash 06/10/05 - 02:18:33 AM
Another pinnacle to consider in my brief time in MacJams!
I really am lost for words - this is so cool. Love the voice,
the loops (they are loops?) and the clarity of sound. A
beautiful piece of work.

Now to go to Ophelia's Song!

The incredible voice... &mdash 06/10/05 - 06:19:57 AM
bails this song out for me. The repetitve orchestral
elements started grating on me after the first few
measures. But the big drum sound helped to alleviate that
also. And I have to give it a good score due to the
originality of the piece. Reminds me of no other songs or
artists. Well done. Thanks for sharing it here.

Sweet &mdash 06/10/05 - 07:14:37 AM
The vocals remind me of some of the vocals on Nitin
Sawhney's albums. GREAT!

sounds like real instruments &mdash 06/10/05 - 11:29:32 AM
Seems like a lot of work went into this.

Like the part especially where it becomes soft and the lady is
singing. But the whole seems well done.

Thanks for sharing

Nice "old school" theremin shot... &mdash 06/10/05 - 09:22:05 PM
Gosh, guys, "this is just not your usual", as we say in my
neighborhood...

And speaking of which, it's hot and humid in my
neighborhood...meaning that I can hear that this thing has
layers and textures that I'm not fully appreciating because
of the fans blowing in my studio area...I have this feeling
that if I get up at dawn and listen when I can stand to turn
the fan or the air conditioning off, I'm going to hear a
layer or two deeper...or maybe by then it'll be cool enough
for a sane man to put headphones on his head...

But WILL a sane man get up at dawn to listen to pan
through his headphones?....Tune in tomorrow....

pan: a whole 'nother soundscape

Lovely stuff.

Mighty Moog solo, just right &mdash 06/13/05 - 10:11:56 AM
My favorite moment, during the string break, when you
have a synth pad play lead over string samples (perhaps
the Moog), which has a wonderful quality, just right. The
string repeats get too repeaty in my ears by the end, but I
dig your lazy style of vocals and the balanced production.

magical &mdash 06/14/05 - 01:21:46 PM
what magical vocals. your high harmonies sound like a synth, almost like a vibe, with wonderful interplay with those higher sounds. i just love your vocal harmonies. this is magical.

I was about to give up on this one until I &mdash 06/14/05 - 04:33:44 PM
got to the vocals. And then I stayed around. Very dreamy.
Portishead comes to mind.

Wow &mdash 08/24/05 - 05:36:25 PM
So far this is my favourite song from this forum. I have
listened to quite a few but none has grabbed my attention
like this one. I even listen to it in my car driving bout
round town.

The production is really outstanding. The vocals are
perfect for the music. Quite honestly rates up there with
some of what I have heard from EBTG's Tracy Thorn
singing with Massive Attack. And that is a high
compliment indeed. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

deep cuts &mdash 07/15/06 - 04:45:16 PM
started poking around and I'm glad I did. This is original, far out and I
love it. Had to look Theremin up. That is sooo cool. Leo Theremin
would have freaked (in a good way)

Cool &mdash 10/06/06 - 03:15:37 PM
Very unique. Like the touch of classical music. But I have to admit, the
basic melody became too redundant for my taste. As did the musical
bridge. Great production, however.
