Description:
A guitar improvisation. I started off with no plan and let the moment show where to go.
It took me a while to get the guitar in tune ... so the tuning session has become kind of a preludium, in which also I am tuning in to what may come...
Tuning: Low E-string down to D, otherwise standard guitar tuning (but by the end of the recording, the guitar comes out of tune anyway).
Mono. Recorded with just one mikrophone. Eq:d listening through speakers. (For headphones I would have prefered less bass ... but mono sound in headphones is to my ears not so pleasant, that's why I choose to do it for speakers).

Thanks a lot Ejh! I appreciate all the supportive comments that comes from you!
For a while now I havent commented comments to my tunes so much because
I've been afraid to create to much to read for later commenters. But lately I've
also become a little afraid that you will begin to think I don't care, which i do, so
I now want say that I AM really appreciating all comments a lot! [ Reply to This ]

the sound &mdash 06/16/05 - 07:41:48 AM
of your soul freely thinking.....i like that idea of tuning as a
prelude....i appreciate the use of thumping as rhythm , i
know how hard it is to thump and play chords and single
notes at the same time.....good work here..... [ Reply to This ]

Really interesting &mdash 06/16/05 - 08:02:37 AM
... there's 9 downloads and only 2 votes as of this writing, but then I realized it's because it's so long that it takes a while to take it all in.
Really Great improv, and pretty great recording. That's sort of stating the obvious! A little boomy in the bass range. I have the same mic, and I've lately been experimenting with positioning it more on the guitar's top and not so much on the soundhole.
This reminds me of Bruce Cockburn a little bit. I like the tuning part. In my opinion there should be more tuning in guitar music! [ Reply to This ]

Happy to come back from vacation &mdash 06/16/05 - 08:58:24 AM
and send this to the Weekly Picks. (Although I guess it's
called the "Rating Picks" now?)
This is a wonderful piece, a peek into musical creation, a
workshop. Downloaded.

Mightly Fine Playing! &mdash 06/18/05 - 06:31:55 AM
Your playing is some of the finest expressive acoustic guitar playing on the intenet. The acoustic guitar does not let a player get away with much of anything. It says, "Be true to me and I'll unlock my mysteries to you." Unlock them, you have. :) [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for commenting! Yes the start is sketchy. And that is in line with my
intention. I experience the tuning as such a natural part of the music, and it has
become, more and more, as years passed, an enjoyable listening expeience. It is
live-ish in a way that I like. [ Reply to This ]
Grymt Bra!!! &mdash 06/18/05 - 02:45:19 PM
Sometimes when i playin around with the guitar my girlfriend
say that i sits there with open mouth and a stupid look in
my eyes.
When i listen to this song i have the same expression without
the guitar she says.
Nice improvisation and a good sound.

Tack Thompa! Thanks for your support! Great to hear from you again! (I
remember you commented on my very first post half a year ago).
Yes you are mycket welcome att sjunga to some av mina tunes. Only a few of
them I'd like to have untouched, but those are probably not the ones you'd
choose for singin. We'll see ... give me a suggestion! [ Reply to This ]

sounds good &mdash 06/18/05 - 11:48:28 PM
Like the drone of the D and the ravi shankar feel.
The softness is cool and then going into funkiness. Nice
have not heard that in your playing, nice.
Changin speeds, cool!
Like that the trills you do as you play. Nice.
Thanks for sharing! [ Reply to This ]
Amazing &mdash 06/27/05 - 04:21:33 AM
I can't think of another opportunity I've ever had to listen to a brilliant guitarist just 'going for it' like this.
Incredible playing and totally enjoyable at all times. Loved it! [ Reply to This ]
sounds &mdash 07/16/05 - 10:32:19 AM
really great J.
I love the very nice guitar sound you are getting
with one mic. Has a very nice and mellow feel,
reminds me of walking through the forest in summer.
Well done.

Improvisation?!?!? &mdash 07/22/05 - 09:33:24 AM
Very cool, man! If I could sit with my guitar and the
tablature and practice for a few weeks, I might be able to
get most of these licks down. The fact that you can do this
"off the cuff" blows me away. I love players like John
Renbourn, Bert Jansch, Stephan Grossman, and Peter
Finger. Cori Ander fits neatly into that group.
And I agree, the mono sound is not so pleasant on
headphones (that's how I'm listening).
I mix with Logic Pro. It has a Mono-to-Stereo function
that splits different frequencies to different parts of the
stereo spectrum. It's not as good as doubletracking or a
good stereo microphone for capturing a stereo image, but
if Logic Express has the same plug-in, it might be worth a
try. [ Reply to This ]
