interesting
use of loops. that's what most will probably say!
Maybe go for adjusting some volume levels and making things change more would be cool for this piece.

welcome to MacJams.com!

great start!
Hehehe. I remember my first loops song--which was
my very first composition in GarageBand. :)
Welcome to MacJams!

You've done a nice job of compiling and ordering these
loops! The bass about 1/3 in was a bit dwarfed
(soundwise) by the percussion--not sure if you wanted
that, but an instrumental solo like that is a nice touch and
I'd like to hear it forward in the mix more, myself.
Very cool first post. You have a good ear for composition.
Looking forward to hearing more!

Thanks for posting this!

great start!
Thanks for this detailed feedback, Mystified. This helps when I'm thinking
about doing the next songs. I'm going be looped-based for a while--
unfortunately until I learn to play a real instrument.

great start!
That's how I started out. I ended up using the GarageBand midi pencil tool and
keyboard because I was spending too much time looking for loops and none
really matched what I was hearing in my head.

great start!
BTW, to check out how far you can go with loops, I recommend that you listen to
some of Deputy Doofy's music.
And I enjoyed your funk and welcome to MacJams.

Puts the "EEEeeee" in Funk.
Funk is not my genre, so I cannot offer any comparative
critiques, but I can say that, although I'm not a funk fan,
this was rather nice to listen to... you had a nice balance
of rich bass kick drum, midrange guitar, and high end
percussion, good staging of beats, then soft pauses...
seemed to hold together well. Nice intro song, you came
in with a splash! Welcome to MacJams!

Welcome to Macjams
Good first track up amani.
I like your choice of loops and your arrangement is pretty
good.
I do think the percussion is up a little bit too high in places,
the synth that comes in is very nice, perhaps yuse that a little
in the beginning of the track so it is not quite so unexpected.
anyway, well done. look forward to hearing more from you.

Slim, I'm going to go back and review the song with this feedback in mind.
Thanks so much. I need this.

Nice breaks and all that
The bass starts with a strong loop, but then doesn't do a
whole lot in the rest of the piece. That feels a bit unbalanced.
In fact, the bass goes down in volume. Try to keep that
energy up.

The sound effects are cool. If you throw in some more (and
put some more processing over them) you can actually milk
this drum loop into a whole composition.

Nice breaks and all that
Tenneesee, I hear you on this critique. I think I work myself into corners when
composing (like the song I'm currently working on) and I don't know how to
get out. Very interested in what you mean by "milk the drum beats."

Welcome!
I agree with Tennessee Vic and Mystified about the bass
losing energy... but it's a nice blend of loops. Bear in mind
also that most people here have heard every single
Jampack loop several times over already on other tracks;
so it's hard to be fresh with them, but I think you've
succeeded. Thanks for joining in...

Welcome!
Definitely agree here. If I hear that frickin RnB Horn 5 loop one more time, I'm
gonna puke. But I guess many loops start to wear you if you're limited in your
musical abilities.

Nice grooves
I agree with everyone else that you have a good start here. My stuff here is also loops only, so I can sympathize with the challenges you're facing. The grooves here are nice; now it just needs some stronger lead melodies and changes. Get yourself a large supply of loops and make the most of the ones you have via effects, or by combining similar sounding ones.

well...
it gets boring in the middle (all drums) so you should add
more instruments at that part, at least a bassline or
something. this song is just begging for vocals, though.
Keep at it.

well...
I'm afraid many of my songs are going to be begging for vocals--which I can't
provide. Wish I could. lol But thanks for your feedback.

Cool groove!
It starts out very cool, but then the volume of everything but the drums dropped out. Otherwise, this is very cool.
