Description:
Pop Over-Easy!! Your comments are so appreciated! Forgive me for taking so long to respond.

Lyrics:
Oh it's a shame
how you're running away from all who love you and with a smile you told reporters
those lies distorted for
someone new.

The road you're on gets tiresome and troubling your head by mine
driving home to see me
hoping the I'll be here

Oh it's a shame
how you're wasting away in a life so full
the poison wine your excuses your time
all leave this sublime denial in you

The road you're on gets tiresome and troubling your head by mine
driving home to see me
hoping the I'll be here

No no no no no
you don't have to take it that far.
You're up in the clouds banishing pride hoping you'll find
some peace
of mind to take you this time.

Oh it's a shame
how you're running away from all who love you and with a smile you told reporters
those lies distorted for
someone new.
And oh, it's a shame.

Hey, great voice! You have strong pop appeal, but also a
blues/soul character. In trying to put a finger on it I
thought of a hint of Janis Joplin, a little Natalie Merchant,
and a number of other female artists I can't quite corner (I
don't have a lot of genre exposure). Its a sort of mature
pop that has integrity and manages to be accessible
without the sickening sweetness of mass-produced pop.

The song itself is great. All the parts are right in tune with
the direction, the drum details are tasty, and that mellow
horn was a fantastic choice. (9-8-8-8)

P.S. More deails in the song description and lyrics please!
Everybody likes liner notes.

Chrissie Hynde! I couldn't figure out who else you reminded me of, but this song makes it clearer.

I'd like to know more about your songs and your background, too.

Thanks for posting your songs here. I've downloaded all four.

Wow &mdash 06/23/05 - 03:43:00 AM
This is excellent from writing to performance to production!
This music really moves me. Has kind of a retro early 70's
sound to it that I love and it's still incredibly fresh. This isn't
just going in my MacJam favorite list, it's going in my all time
favorites list in my music library.

Please tell us more about your music, what you work with
what parts you are playing or perhaps a collaborator is
playing.

wonderful voice! &mdash 06/24/05 - 11:37:37 AM
Your voice is definitely "star quality". Very distinctive with
lots of overtones, covers a wide sound spectrum.

This tune is very well conceived and mixed. The trumpet
is a lovely addition; really adds a lot of tone color to this
recording.

I, too, would like to know more background about this
song -- its inspiration, the lyrics, how you recorded it,
what software you used.

Especially since I am giving this such high marks, and it's
at the top of the charts here. Great job!

good voice. You really remind me of a sound I have heard
before. Someone on the radio, not sure who tho specially
on this song. Really like those horns by the way.

Solid &mdash 06/27/05 - 10:33:50 AM
Excellent, as stated many times above. Love your voice,
the up front blues, folk-rock, accessible, honest quality.
Just wanted to let you know that in my speakers there is
digital distortion in the first verse while you sing that
sounds like random clicking; could be frequency
saturation, not sure. If it is a ride cymbal, consider
removing it; if it is distortion, consider bringing down the
level slightly. The trumpet is a cool sound, very mellow;
but the solo doesn't rise to the promise of the piece,
quite; perhaps too lounge, not enough edge and
tightness. I'd like to see the lyrics and other song/
production notes. Your voice, the solid drumming, and
backing brass make this track very solid.

ditto Tobi's comments &mdash 07/02/05 - 12:30:10 PM
I was going to comment on the fast clicking sound but
noticed that Tobin already covered it. Also dig the
trumpet and the drums. Voice is very cool - very natural
for this style.

Is this the same Jenny Dove that played El Farol back in the day? The best live performer I've ever seen - and best rendition of Me & Bobby McGee.
