fanfare for the common man &mdash 06/22/05 - 12:46:02 PM
WOW! Welcome to JamPack 4!!

I'm glad you chose mostly brass sounds for this piece
(grin).

It has a Copland "Fanfare for the Common Man" feel, with
the open harmonies and the tympani. Very effective.

I also like its brevity -- it would be good for any number
of occasions requiring a SHORT introduction. "The
envelope, please".....

Tom, do you know how to do musical notation? With just a
little tweaking here and there, this fanfare could be
published and sold. I know of several "brass venues"
which would be interested in playing a piece like this.

I personally would like to see you develop a "suite" for
brass instruments; you have a good ear for the sounds.
Email me with any questions if you're interested in
developing this. I may be able to help with notation.

Thanks Cameron. I appreciate those comments especially coming from a
professional horn player. I can do notation, although my training is minimal. I
am not good at transposing to different keys, although I guess there are
programs that do that now?

I will email you. I would be very interested in working on a suite for brass.
Thanks again.

Welcome to the Pack &mdash 06/22/05 - 02:48:38 PM
Nice one, Tom. Would it be too much if used that as a
ringtone on my cel phone? I'm so glad you finally got JP4. I
know we'll be hearing a lot more great things from you.

I believe that would violate federal interstate communciations codes, but if
you are willing to risk prosecution, yes, feel free to use this fanfare.

And thanks for listening and commenting, Peter.

by benjamin britten perhaps? somewhere in the war requiem i think......excellent, gave me goose bumps. thanks for posting this. joan would be the last person to criticize posting more then one song at a time.

Thanks for the comparison, JOAN, but this is not Mr. Britten's (unless I have
subconsciously ripped him off?)

Glad you got some bumps. Jampack is fun.

You own JP4! You sure can tell it. Nice ceremonial piece
commemorating your purchase!
The horns sound great. Good form.

See if there is some way to speed up the timp roll on the
end.

out,
But so short...

Sounds great &mdash 06/23/05 - 04:21:42 PM
Woooh the more I hear this jam pack the more I want it,
both this and Mysti's recent track have made me want to
head down the Applestore this weekend! Great sounds,
and I like the way it builds up. You should really develop
this into a longer piece..it has a lot of potential!

Ok...so where is the next part....!? &mdash 06/24/05 - 02:16:05 AM
This is great! But, like the first book in a series, it leaves
me wanting to know what comes next!

I'll look forward to what more you have in store with
JP4...(and no, I really wasn't trying to make that all rhyme
just then!)

Thanks for this! :)

nice! &mdash 09/10/05 - 06:11:24 PM

a great piece atwood-of course i love it 'cuz it's short-but
actually cuz its' got something sorely lacking in music
today-dynamics!woo-hoo!
plus, you are the master of the jam pack-how do you
coax such full, nicely balanced textures out the impudent
machine?-all i can do w/ #4 on my G4 is suck up
processor power and generally suck-do you know of any
solo cello AU plug-ins? i need one desperately-i got the
fitch and i'm underwhelmed..whatever-i digress:
this is my second-favorite piece from you (besides road
to emmaus) i'd love to hear you apply this kind of focus to
other orchestral stuff-all the best-j.
