Description
Song I improvised upon finding a soundfont Sax sound that is very similar to a sound that came stock on the Korg T series synths - I used to love riffing with those, but never had the scratch to buy one. Anyway, when I fount the SF and started playing around w/ it I just sort of started "rolling tape" and came up w/ most of this. There is a bit of editing here and there, and the bass line (as you can probably tell) is a tweeked copy of the sax line. I then added the electric piano and windchimes to give it a bit more flavor.

Saxy
"...it was a stormy night. I was checking my desk for a lost
bottle of gin when the dame burst through my door. She
looked like a cat that just got fished out of the canal. Her
dime store dress clung to her like a guilty conscience and
from under a matted pile of golden curls her desperate
gaze shot an unspoken word straight through my heart.
'Trouble.'"

That sax sounds excellent. The breath and vibrato are
chilling. This conjures up so many scenes from black and
white movies viewed through sleepless eyes in the middle
of the night.

Thanks Brian. Great little bit of "pulp description" made me laugh a lot. Perfect.

Very brooding sax sound and melodic treatment. It is
almost arhythmical; meandering aimlessly along.

This is evocative music to accompany someone
contemplating suicide as he's walking along the deserted
docks. It is foggy, and this film is definitely in black &
white.

My personal preference would be to hear a little more of
the electric piano and windchimes in this mix.

You create an "existential" atmosphere here. Interesting
change of pace.

Thanks, Cameron. I may think about bringing those elements up, but I guess to
me it is all about the sax here, or (since there's a Bass violin in here) Sax and
Violins <grin>. And yes, it's very melancholy, not sure why (other than the
instrument just drags that out of me). I admit I had no trouble naming this. I
love your elaboration of the description (maybe later in the same movie) after
the fecal matter has encountered the oscillating rotary air moving device, and
it's all crashing down...

I think I remember hearing...
...that sax sound when you first got it. Nice texture
created throughout. A little austere at times... but it sets a
mood. The incidentals are a nice touch, though.

KK, you gotta come around more often... we miss you!

I think I remember hearing...
Yes, you heard just the sax by itself. You remembered right! Thanks, I really
miss it around here too, and am trying to get back into the swim, but the
current's pretty fast these days...

Thanks Jack. Originally tried to reply to this while in a hurry, right after replying
to the last one, and got stumped by the 45 second rule. Been trying to rub a
minute together to stop back and say thanks.

Smoky and brooding...
What a marvelous mood you've woven here with that
doleful saxophone solo. The accompanying instruments
sort of follow along in echo, adding color and
contemplation, but it's the sax that's the star of this show.

Excellent mood piece.

Smoky and brooding...
Yeah, the sax is definitely the star of this show. I'm really glad I found that sf.
I'll try and look sometime to say which one it is, but it's very close in feel to
the Korg T1 sax that I just had to play, it's one of those compelling sounds
that just gets in your head (at least it was for me). Thanks for listening Mystie
- glad you liked the fog.

You got a pretty nice sounding sax sound font. This really
captures a nice desolate, late night mood. Well done.
