zazz (horny mix) v2

Description
The horny mix of zazz is back! Still featuring the fine trumpeting skills of McBoy's friend, Randy B., paired with my electronic reggae music distortion. With this version, I tried to blend the trumpet with the rest of the music a little better by tweaking the volume levels, nudging a couple areas, adding some effects and few little surprises along the way. Enjoy! Special thanks to McBoy for suggesting and the trumpet addition in the first place.

By the way, if you are interested in hearing more solo improv instrumentation paired with electronic frenziness, check out McBoy's "Mad Tenor's" or my own tunes "flute salad" and "yellow river slam."

Back in your court
That's the stuff. I love what you did to the trumpet. I think it
integrates with the rest of the music much better now. The
changing effects on it give it even more life and make the
whole thing more dynamic. Very cool.

Nice integration
The horn does seem to fit better in this mix. I love trumpet, and it sounds great here. Very cool tune.

In the minority here...
I love this piece, and the trumpet, but I was really grabbed
by the previous mix, flat, no reverb, which gave the
trumpet a much more raw presence. But - no big deal.
Still really like this, especially the 2nd half. Excellent work,
Eric.

Thanks for being honest! Everyone approaches music from a different
angle... it's interesting to hear what people think, regardless...

avant garde...
only at macjams will you hear this kind of cross pollination of
music and sensibilities....i keep comming back just because
of the endless possibilties here.....i like what u did with the
efx....i never would have thought of it....as i listen to the
piece on my headphones i begin to get the interaction....the
rhythmic play and sonic ebb and flow movement.....kool
sound art.....!

Awesome
Listen to this on high volume, wow! Lot's of thoughts,
pictures and visions comes to my mind listening to it: city,
traffic, late night, tempo... This is very good mix, wonder
what it would be like dancing to this, perhaps under a full
moon? This is wild!

Thanks,

M

Hmmm....dancing to this would be...interesting... it would have to be a
kind of freaky interpretive dance... my six year old son is good at that!

Hey Mr. S.,
The last time we had this up, you commented that it just sounded
like a bunch of noise... did this final mix clarify the tune for you? Just
curious...

Stunned again...
...Reminds me of espionage and intrigue in a foreign
country. Almost has a "Tangerine Dream" feel to it. the
integration of trumpet works well, and is so far from the
distorted synths, that it fits like a glove. You are always on
the cutting edge. I wish I could be so daring. The build up
has a tension that leaves me craving for more.

Stunned again...
Wow, now that you mention it, the middle part does remind me of a
particular Tangerine Dream tune! I can't put my finger on which tune,
but I'll figure it out...sooner or later

I'm blown away
Out there it is... and in a good place in time. Intensly
groovy! Very nice work! Diggin this one alot. I've
been away for a couple of weeks and it's nice to
come back and find that everyone just seems to keep
getting better and better while traversing more and
more in uncharted territories. Very nice mix of
textures, beats I like the way the trumpet is sketched
in. Very nice! Congrats STNZ! Nice blow RandyB!

just gushing about the production again. that static sounds
so gooood! the fact that you can crank this loud speaks for
itself. really great job working in the horns-they seem an
integral part of the song now. great climactic finish

purgatory
what you've done here makes me sick with envy and
admiration.
traces of soooooo many styles flying in and out of
my ears, reminiscent of having fusion indian tapas
the other night with my queer crew.
yet another tune to add to my growing stun
collection. ripping and excellent.

Such a wonderful envelope of throbbing sound
with stabs of spirited trumpet cutting through.
Does Randy B. have a sax playing brother named Michael? ;)

Another great one.
Reminded alot of Radiohead's "National Anthem" in some
parts. Great production, great instrument choices, great
evereything.

jaws of acid jazz
The pressure of intellect forcing outward, the jaws of acid
jazz gnawing at the fringe, the twist of experience like a
jigsaw reshaping the frame, and the lurch of the new
trying to keep from gaining a stranglehold. Fruit salad
floating down the yellow river into the Gulf past waves of
motorminds.

Wowieuniqueueueueue
I Loved it, in a reallly weird way. This stretches my
comfort area in music in some ways, it being a bit on the
industrial side, but the relentlessly driving gritty rhythm,
and the intriguing trumpet that wafts in and out,
sometimes acoustic, sometimes bitcrushed, sometimes in
between, floating over the gray metropolis like a
pixellated iridescent dream... I get Salvador Dali mental
goosebumps listening to this!

Swift
Like it a lot. And nice trumpet playing in there.
Another solid, different but listenable excursion for
Stun!

I saw an ad for a new plug-in and thought of you,
Eric. Check out Camelphat (there is a free demo).
Don't have a link for ya, but I can't imagine a google
search for Camelphat would turn up much else. It's
expensive, but playing around with the demo and
Wiretap could give you lots of usable stuff. Hope
this is useful to you.

chinese dragon parade
The crashing, high-pitched percussion reminds me of
parades I've seen in San Francisco's Chinatown, the long
red and gold paper dragon undulating through the narrow
streets.

Some very cool sounds in combination here.

I do like this version better; the trumpet does sound more
blended in the texture and the overall tone quality of the
piece is now more integrated. Good job!

If not for the trumpet of angels
Caught me under your tires, flattened by pavement, then flung into the mud, flattened by pressure, then I hear the rhythm of the city again, flattened once more. Rush me, push me, and if it weren't for the trumpet of angels, none of this would make sense. Anyway? (or is that humanity I hear, so far off...)

Nice mixed up textures
The mixing of the electronic sounds with the trumpet is very
nice. Maybe the growing of the sound level should be more
subtle, but that's only my taste in mixing.
Great !

Hauntingly catchy
The amount of parallel yet synchronized
instrumental tracks is really impressive.
None of the tracks are excessive or oddly
arranged. And the dynamics seem to be so
carefully arranged.
