Lyrics:
Re-Entry SquadThey took us to the movies again
They showed us a short film again
It contained what the Officers said
was Emotion
There wre people laughing and crying
in the film
The officers taled to each of us
when we got home
Their HOme
The Place called Re-Entry Squad
We have been living their since
the attack in Iraq
It seems that more people are coming each week
There is something similiar about us
A Blank Vacant Stare
From Seeing to much
From seeing to much pain
to much death
to much loss
Why, Why did we change?
I used to believe in Truth
But now all that I believed in
Turned out to be Lies and Deception

No I haven't been to Iraq and haven't been in the army but
I have been a member of the Re-Entry Squad. A Vacant
Place of Lost Emotion. That hit hard. You are taking us to
a place we don't want to go and this piece may get
bombed hard as a result. It won't change anything. I had
an uncle once on my mother's side of the family. We
would get together for a week every summer. My uncle
served in the army during WWII. As a young 2nd.
Lieutenant he jumped on top of a live grenade one of his
men had dropped to save the others. I saw the result of
that every summer from a very young boy on up. Steel
hooks where his arms used to be, blind, only able to hear
with powerful hearing aids, scar tissue across his face. He
was called a hero and yes, I guess he was. But I often
wondered what he would have done if he could have gone
back across time and had a second chance. I spent two
weeks with him at his residence on the Federal Wildlife
Refuge where he was a manager. I saw the resentment on
the face of the man who did most of the work my uncle
got paid for. Did he consider my uncle a hero? I saw the
pain that my two cousins went through as they grew up
forever set apart from people with "normal" parents. Were
my cousins hero's? Where is the glory that they say is in
this thing called war? I never saw it.

Bronco,
I may get hit on this one. I am sorry for your relatives loss and everyones losses
I had a Uncle on my Dad's side who had what they called "shellshock" back then
post WW2, He fought and was wounded in North Africa fighting against Rommels
Afrika Corp, was wounded , got a purple heart and did non battlefield work
after recovery. In no way am I bashing any soldier, I feel sorry for the hardfighting
men and women who got dragged into a war comprised of smoke and mirrors.
If this offends you I apologize.
I am 45 I remember Vietnam from B&W television and how poorly the vets
were treated coming home.
I am only addressing the trauma of war,
No this piece will not change a thing
just something in my head that I needed to get out for better or worse
If I played it safe musically then why do it.
Take Care

Slotogenic
This is an interesting piece. I like spoken word, it's a nice change of pace from the ususal. These men and women fighting are being used, taking for granted, and exploited. My granfather was captured in wwII and was put in a prison camp for two years. He didn't have any physical scars, but plenty of emotional, and he took it out by beating the crap out of my dad when he was young. Everyone in war comes back damaged.

ewebacca,
Thank you for listening to "Re-Entry Squad" and posting.
It is sad how people are treated in wartime including innocent civilians
imprisoned only on their beliefs, race or nationality.
Glad you enjoyed this piece.
I hope the war stops soon (Iraq/Afghanistan but there are many other
violent actions going on world wide , too many to count.
one is to many!
