Description:
This is an "ambient/dub" remix of Mungo's Ghost of 138 (http://www.macjams.com/song/song_profile.php?lid=10223) which is in and of itself a dub version of other work. I've edited/reprocessed the original material, added new beats and vocals. The vocal track is a recording of a "numbers station" (see google/wikipedia for info).

Since Mungo's dub reminded me alot of Bill Laswell's ambient dub works, I chose to do my reversion in a similar style, using beats from a Laswell sampling CD. The choice of the numbers station is due to my ongoing obsession with cold war communications and the belief that all sounds contain secrets.

Big thanks to Mungo and the folks who did the original material for choosing to share. Thanks also to all the authors of the AU plugins here and the folks in the Apple Discussions boards who revealed how to make a Tascam US-428 work with GarageBand. No thanks to gossiping fools everywhere.

Hardware:
Powerbook G4 800
Tascam US-428

Software:
GarageBand 2.01 and lots of AU plugins

....my kinda dub, but it was still a dub, I guess. Was
expecting reggae.

This is a fine re-imaginging of Ghost of 138.
BTW, it's quite an amusing coincidence that you used a
recording of a numbers station, given my previous "cold war"
navy work.

I dub thee "Sir Dub" &mdash 01/05/06 - 08:25:53 AM
Wow... that is so far removed from Sonnet 138 Industrial ( http://
www.macjams.com/song/10132 ) that I hardly recognize it. But this
"dub of a dub" is awfully cool and haunting. The heavy hammer of
techno-industry sullies my post-modern ethos. This is a glimpse of
2086. Nice piece!
