Description:
This is a remake of my former submission of the same name. This go-around, I have John Steebe on piano and drlaine on drums. This is my first real collaboration here. These guys totally jam and really made the piece come alive. Thanks guys! I'm still not used to singing jazz, though...

Lyrics:
Life isn’t simple
as playing a game
the rules keep changing all the time

You think the road’s one way, and then it's another
You’re rich and then you’re down to your last dime.

Ever since I saw your face
I’m feeling out of place
Ev’ry thing I knew about my world
has gone without a trace.

But still the music remains.
I hear the band,
give me your hand
before I go insane,

And save a dance just for me
just one little dance all for me
I don’t wanna think about tomorrow just right now.
So save a dance just for me
just one little dance all for me
when the sun comes up I’ll cry myself to sleep.

I want to live life in this moment
in your arms
so while the band is hot,
baby let me feel your charms

Oh, baby save one dance for me oh baby please!

And save a dance just for me
just one little dance all for me
I don’t wanna think about tomorrow just right now.
So save a dance just for me
just one little dance all for me
when the sun comes up I’ll cry myself to sleep.

excellent job &mdash 07/07/05 - 09:31:22 PM
You guys sound great together. Such wonderful piano and
brush playing. Clear and well balanced mix. Cantor, your
singing is wonderful; you deliver the lines with just the right
touch and great stlye. Very enjoyable to relax and listen to,
nodding to the slinky beat.

My kingdom for a plop filter! &mdash 07/10/05 - 08:57:09 PM
You have a couple of really nasty "P" and "B" sounds in this
track....

The song itself and the arrangement are absolutely lovely. I
feel like Fred Astaire just listening to it.

Really nice &mdash 07/11/05 - 08:29:01 AM
Great job, guys. I dig the smooth vocals, not over done, nice
job. The piano is great, what a wonderful collab. I wish you'd
cut and paste the lyrics, tho, so they show on this page. Nice
use of those Ivory keys, John. Solid drumming. Really
enjoyable.

Great &mdash 07/13/05 - 11:34:27 AM
It was a pleasure to work with you on this, Cantor. You've
got a great vocal style for this sort of thing.

I always enjoy hearing drlaine's drummings! Tasteful and
well-executed.

Sinatra &mdash 07/23/05 - 02:00:36 PM
Reminds me of Sinatra on a muggy day. Wonderful
summertime music.

You played it for her... &mdash 07/27/05 - 05:08:29 PM
....you can play it for me...

One of my old friends does a great version of "One For My
Baby" that has this sort of feel...If I'm not betraying too
much ignorance, I think it's Johnny Mercer...I hope...

The drums and piano are great. Just enough and not too
much...serving the song and not begoming a "chops
fest"...

Nice phrasing on the vocals...That 'conversation with
melody' thing that some of the jazz guys have...The song
develops a nice gentle swing...

And that's about the end of my ability to even comment
on this...I'm not well versed in jazz and pop...But this one
seems to touch more or less universal American pop
territory...

You must remember this...a kiss is just a kiss...

Good job, guys. Great feel.

GREAT Vocals.

Fine Writing, (a Good Story, Told Well AND No Cliches - which is Tough
in this genre).

NOTHING pleases More than Real Instrumets, being played Really Well.

Arrangement and Mix: Pro-Level.

Fabulous.

Coop
