Description:
Story of the Androgyne: the gods were jealous of the self-contained inner strength and fulfillment displayed by the Androgyne. So the gods conspired to tear it apart into two halves, male and female.
Ok, I realize you can't really understand most of these "lyrics". Please read along if you'd like. Consider: we rarely understand the voices inside us, they simply don't speak coherent Esperanto.
Music inspired by Morlocks and Eloi. A collaboration, with a little help from my friends. In the end, it is a love song (created out of agony, the best kind, the only response). You know who you are...
Lyrics:
The Androgyne:
AND THE ONE SHALL NOW BE TWO
WHAT THE GOD HAS PULLED ASUNDER SHALL NEVER BE UNITED
WHAT WAS WHOLE IS NO LONGER
LIKE GOD
SEE
PIECES OF THYSELF
Pieces of myself. (Remember?) I remember pieces of myself.
I will never be whole. I will never be myself again.
Again.
A GREAT BALANCE HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK TO THE WORLD
REJOICE! AND BE GLAD
Before God, before Gods we were whole.
Before. We were whole. We were whole.
What have you done to me? What have you done
one tongue, one desire...
the language of my mind, the language of my tongue...
No longer one.
What can I do? I am not prepared.
I am not myself, not myself in you, prepared,
again. Not in you. I.
GOD IS ONE GOD IS GLORY GOD IS NEED GOD IS LOVE
GOD IS ONE
Let me find myself in you.

Vaudeville Punk Soap Opera. How cool is that!

Post-Babylonian poetry set to Morlock music sung by preverbal angels &mdash 07/08/05 - 01:06:51 PM
Wo. I listened a second (and third) time cuz I knew there'd
be tons of stuff in there to absorb. Much better when I
read along with the words, altho not understanding during
my first listen had its own emotional moments that helped
inform my subsequent listens. Having a tough time
understanding what God is saying (the capital letters are
God's lines, right?) is fitting, no matter if we can read
along or not. Something incredibly unsettling about this.
Tragedy in a form that speaks in tongues, post-
Babylonian, language split into fragments. Fascinating.
The ending chant, let me find myself in you, such a nice
finish. Art unique to Macjams. Thanks for the journey. [ Reply to This ]
Post-Babylonian poetry set to Morlock music sung by preverbal angels &mdash 07/08/05 - 02:15:31 PM
Thanks for the great description. The whole idea started after I read your poem on line. And then from our email discussion. I was further motivated after watching Hedwig and the Angry Inch, at your recommendation, and seeing that pretty specatular scene about the androgyne they did using animation. Had to add to the literature, you might say. Thanks again for all your encouragement and assistance. I guess I like tracks where you can't understanding anything. That's the way I walk around, most of the time. [ Reply to This ]
lost in my psyche &mdash 07/08/05 - 03:36:12 PM
i gotta listen to this a few hundred more times to let it all
sink in.. incredibly deep soundscape, tortuous & spellbinding
at the same time. the balance of darkness & light seems a
little skewed toward the shady side. brilliant nonetheless [ Reply to This ]

Very exciting to think someone is going to listen to this multpile times. Thanks. Think of the light side regaining the upper hand after the fasletto voices' pleading last phrase: the voices ask to find themselves in each other, they split off from the god groove, and they find their peace in a whole other place. The god groove keeps peddling forward, but they find their own fractured joy apart. Divine Irony. (Thanks again.) [ Reply to This ]
Awesome &mdash 07/08/05 - 06:51:04 PM
Thanks for the head trip, Mr. SpasmodicMan.
Now I know who to blame when I hear these voices in my
head. :) [ Reply to This ]

Back at you for that sublime Distant Howl synth lead you use in Clerical Error.

Something &mdash 07/08/05 - 08:13:21 PM
else! This brings me to the underground lake, where it's all dark green and blue. Visions of ionic columns in endless rows float hypnogogically over the water. Maybe that's a Freudian reference to Hedwig. Everything sparkles up from the darkness here. [ Reply to This ]
Something &mdash 07/10/05 - 09:37:55 AM
Cool. In my mind, though, I am looking out from the water, not over it. The world ripples and, although I have not mentioned it yet, I have gills so breathing isn't a problem. [ Reply to This ]

Magnificent &mdash 07/09/05 - 02:50:32 AM
Wow! This is a real work of art.
Funny, I see in your reply to Tobin that you mention "Hedwig
and the Angry Inch"; when I first read your description the
first thing that came to my mind was "Origins of Love"
because of the subject matter. Though obviously this is
quite different from that song.
This is very interesting to listen to and certainly reading the
words helps. Once I had the words understood the rest all
came together and I was thoroughly into it. Very well done.
Freaky good. [ Reply to This ]

"Origins of Love" is definitely an anticedent. I was trying to make art (even though admitting that feels weird) and your comment is perfect. Thank you. [ Reply to This ]
Great poetry but need text &mdash 07/13/05 - 08:09:32 AM
This is great poetry. Could be cross-referenced under
Spoken Word. I have to admit that not understanding any of
the words without the text written out was off-putting. Too
bad there isn't a way of capturing both the excruciating
emotions you convey. [ Reply to This ]

old myth/new life &mdash 01/17/06 - 12:33:25 PM
This certainly breathes new life into the old platonic myth (actually much
older and more universal than Plato). Kind of a techno AND THE GOD'S
MADE LOVE (Jimi Hendrix). Bravo! [ Reply to This ]
