Description:
When ziti posted this lovely, ethereal song, it seemed a natural to add ambient voice to.

I don't remember who suggested it first...you or me, z....but here it is.
It's a subtle addition--more of an accent--and I've tried to keep the voice flowing and weaving with the guitar, breaking away to soar on its own only once or twice.

Thanks, z, for letting me sing to this one.

really neat, love that pic as well &mdash 07/12/05 - 08:53:15 AM
Love the laid back feeling! Your singing myst is very pleasant
to hear on this. Like that ziti style on this and of course on
all the others as well. Like that steel effect, so cool.

Very enjoyable!

Gorgeous. I listened in headphones and the layers of guitars
is so right and the effects on gentle and grace-filled
Mystified's voice are perfect.

Such elegance &mdash 07/12/05 - 12:24:26 PM
Both you and Zetes have delivered such superb
performances. Z's subtle nuances and your ethereal vocals
meld into one instrument of its own. To take a song like
this, and breath new "freshness" into it, has been done
with such beauty and... GRACE.

I did listen to it on headphones. Is there any other way?

Thanks, Al :)

I'm glad that you heard that about this piece, because that was my intent--to
be another 'matched' voice in what ziti had created in the instrumental. It
was really a privilege to sing to this one...

2 MJ'ers in command of their instruments &mdash 07/12/05 - 01:00:09 PM
Complete command, control, restrain; calm, gorgeous
playing, singing. Almost like a prayer. Also, well mixed,
Mysti. What you have done is not easy, but sounds
effortless in these headphones. I feel better already.

9-8-8-8

I think this would also fit well in Religious.

great together &mdash 07/12/05 - 03:44:01 PM
Your vocal additions are gorgeous, Cat. They enhance Ziti's
amazingly beautiful guitar playing without interfering. There
are some particularly stunning moments when the two
harmonize. So peaceful.

great together &mdash 07/16/05 - 09:33:47 AM
Thanks so much for your comments, Peter. It's true that collaborations can
help you stretch and try new things, and in this case that was very apparent
as I challenged myself to match ziti's guitar track. While I've sung ambient
tracks before, this was yet another approach and a little more minimal and
restrained that some of my other vocals.

I know that YOU know how very satisfying it is to find collaborations that
really work well together. I've been very fortunate here to find excellent
collaborators here at MacJams, and as a result have been able to do some
things way beyond my keyboard skills!
Thanks, again !

Thanks, Rebs :)
It's pretty close to 'magic' when you can sit in front of a mic, close your eyes
and improvise a vocal track to the music of someone on the other side of the
continent.
Magic, indeed.

This is a lovely combination of guitar and voice, both
expressive musical instruments.

It is very emotional -- I am almost in tears after my
intense emotional week following James' and my near
brush with death on July 4th. Every moment is precious.

Thank you both for creating this gem.

Sing praises to the Lord &mdash 07/14/05 - 12:22:05 AM
...I guess!!! I never thought in a million years this bit of
guitar would come to mean what it does to me...I really
almost dumped the initial track, as it was right in the
middle of another song...(my mind wandered)...instead of
hitting "delete track" however, I started a new file, and
played a second part. I went back to the original project.
The next day I found GRACE...layed on the third track and
i was done. I had played a total of about 8
minutes...spent about 6 hours mixing it and adding a fill
or two. Several days later i played it for my new friend
and collaborator Mystified and she insisted that I post it. I
really was hesitant, but I did, and pleasently, the original
post was well recieved and I was happy that i had posted
something that showed a different side to my guitar
playing...

When I recieved Mystified version with vocal in my email, I
was overwhelmed! Mysti's music was one of the first
things that drew me to macjams in the first place...so to
have that angelic voice on my little prayer of a song was
stunning to me.

At first I hoarded this piece of music. I denied Mysti the
right to post it, because I wanted it all for myself! I held
the song close to me, and that voice seemed to add the
light and warmth that both I and the song needed...

After a couple of weeks of hiding this away...I asked Mysti
if she still wanted to post it..and she said she really would
like that...so I said go on...

This song has become a wonderful expression friendship
to me. I hope I am blessed with this creative parntership
for a long time to come. From the opposite directions, we
meet, and come out with something totally new and
different for us both! Thanks Mystified, for you!

Praise the Lord. Pray for Peace.

Thank you, z &mdash 07/17/05 - 03:28:31 PM
I had no idea that you were reluctant to post "Grace" as an instrumental. To
me, it seemed the most natural thing in the world to share something as
lovely as that with as many people as possible!
So much has been said about this piece already, and I've mentioned a few
things in the comments above, so I'll just say once more that I'm very grateful
to have had a chance to sing to this, and I'll admit that it wasn't difficult at
all to 'find a voice' for this song.
(And z didn't hoard the song for two weeks...it was more like one week, lol.)
I agree--it is a wonderful expression of friendship, and I'm looking forward to
more collaborations with ya, z!

Thank you for letting me share this one...

Golden rays &mdash 07/14/05 - 03:57:21 PM
The angelic chorister in a silken purple robe tunes up for
a command performance tomorrow for the gods of Lardo.
The gods will be pleased as they hear guitar amplification
for the first time. The lowland mortals will hear the
sounds spill from the heavens and be similarly pleased.
All this will happen at sunset, golden rays issuing forth.
