Lyrics
Is it such a crime?
To have this one track mind
When you smiled at me
I ‘m said baby, “let’s go”
Excuse me
May I help you with your coat

Tuesday at noon sounds good to me
The view is great, and I think I dig prix fie
But on our walk together
Thought I was gonna’ choke
Such a sweet girl asking
Do you mind if I smoke?

I didn’t know
You were still seeing him
Can't you see I'm going schizo
Is it his good looks or the money
That makes you want to take him back?

Mom asked, “where is he?”
Well he stayed in Tuscany
He’s not just good lookin’
This cat’s got some serious dough
Look at her hand
Mm… that’s one hell of a stone

On the phone until 6am
Such pleasure & I think I found a friend
But would she drop a habit for me?
Well I know we need to be alone
Such a sweet thing asking
Do you mind if I smoke?

Bridge

Come one over anytime
I never go to bed before nine
This affliction needs a cure
Baby that’s no joke
Now I live to hear those words
Do you Mind if I smoke?

Great!
Very reminiscent of Steely Dan. Nice, smooth and well
produced.

Go back Jack and do it again
Yep, very Steely Dan… which is neither a bad nor a
good thing for me. I'm not averse to a bit of SD but
I'm not their biggest fan either. And wow, that jazzy
instrumental bit rocks like… something that rocks a
lot. It appeals to the 1970s lover in me! ;-) Very
smooth and slick overall and great production. Man,
this slides like a cool cat on ice. Nice!

Thank you. LOL. Like I said, don't hide your influences, but don't copy.

I like John Lennon, Steely Dan, used to like Sting before he was gay. Not that there is anything wrong with it. And Miles Davis of course.

Smooth
At first I thought the backing track was kinda cheesy but it
grew on me! The vocals are FAB!! You have got a really
great voice.. Yes this is has got a bit of the early Dan
about it. Classy tune all in all

this grew on me.
Okay. It's in a major key, and a 1-4-5 progression. Yet, there are some happening 9th & 11th chords in there too!

The happiness of this feel should be taken onto context with "People Need Ther Phunk", which is somewhat filthy right?

I'll get back to my nasty ways soon.

strange but nice
Not sure what gives me this feeling of something unusual is going on in the mix.. maybe the drums..

Anyway its a good song. Hmmm, maybe it gives me a bit to much midi feeling. I'm probably to fixed on how I'm used to mixing stuff myself. Think I would punch the bass and guitar a few steps up in the mix, and maybe the vox as well.

But people have said it.. are you related to Donald Fagen or...;)

strange but nice
I've played jazz in local clubs with some of Seattles best musicans, and used to hold my nose in the air to electronic music. I have a new theory though:

All music is electronic once it is reproduced via any sound reproduction medium.

Especially in this day and age, where we actually look to reproduce "old school" sounds that are less clean than what the technology can accomplish.

The bass is cranked BTW. Hit your loudness button.

Steely Feely!
That's what I'm talking about. It won't kill us to feel a nice groove with a few diminished chords and a b9 11th chord frm time to time now will it?

Retro dreams
I dig it. Classic blues funk groove, lyrics, nice performances.
Nice vocal layerings. The vocal effects and vinyl crackles
make the retro feel dreamy and surreal. The ele pno solo
break is a little different, maybe needs more reverb to blend,
in my ears. Nice synth lead stab harmonies, I especially dig
the shakes. Very slinky and fun.

Incredible composition
This leaves my recent submission to this genre in the dust.
Great work. Your tune achieves radio-quality (more like pop
music than funk actuaaly).
