Description
This is my first real attempt to compose with Garageband. The song is unfinished, but I was interested in any feedback from anyone to see if I should bother going on with this direction.

good stuff!
Sounds like a piece of a soundtrack. The panning
especially creates a feeling of depth. Continue!

Thanks for the comments. I actually was trying to go for a soundtrack type of
feel. I appreciate your feedback. I will post again once it is complete.
Although I often have issues with "letting go". I find myself tweaking
constantly, without ever finishing.

opening reminds me of prokofiev
Lt Kije. Anyway, this has a nice energy. I might alter the
mix somewhat. I feel like certain sections of the orchestra
are too far left or right. And the high reverb gives it a little
bit of a muddiness. But those are really production issues.
The piece itself is excellent, and definitely warrants "going
on with this direction."

re: opening reminds me of prokofiev
You are right on the mark. I think I need alot more experience with
garageband and mixing in general. Its really trial and error at this point. I was
looking at a website which displays how an orchestra is set up, i.e. where the
instruments are positioned and I tried to re-produce that in the mixing.
Clearly, it needs a more subtle touch.

I continue to struggle with reverb. The song sounds very different when
played on my computer versus my car. The computer makes it sound too flat
and the car makes it sound like the orchestra is playing in a huge cave. I
probably need better speakers on my Mac.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Film score
Delightful. Like a film score. Very visual with nice
percussive passages. Nice variations and life in your lines.
And good job passing melodies between sections.

Thank you!

I must tell you that Merlyn's Sight is probably the most played song on my iPod. I cannot get enough of it. I feel like I should pay you for the privlage of listening to it. Its a masterpiece!

I really appreciate the feedback and comments. This is a great forum.
