Description:
getting while the getting's good... sort of like taking advantage of an opportunity, even though you're really not supposed to.

Lyrics:
I just kissed
Your Mistress
I couldn't resit
Your tempest

I just fought
Your Outlaw
I watched his fall
Your outlaw

Opportunity
Nods its head again
What you see
Is not always what you get
Impunity
Will you be my friend?
Will you step on down
and Make Your Bet

Hardware:
eMac... pinhole mic! Mouse-point keyboard playing... but real guitars (my trusty SG with Bigsby on this one). I need to get a real mic.

Software:
GB I

Cool &mdash 07/20/05 - 11:34:46 AM
Very cool, indeed.
You might want to bring the lead guitar down just a tiny
bit and the vocals up. I think the vocals are good, but I
just couldn't hear them well enough.
Slap up the lyrics as well!
Good job!

dig it &mdash 07/20/05 - 01:10:25 PM
This is very cool but needs a little work on the mix. The
rawness is a good thing so no problems there. Like Einarus
said, the vocals sound well performed but they get lost in the
music. There's a lot of power in this. Just get the levels
adjusted better and get the parts in the right spaces. I'd like
to hear the bass break away every once in a while from the
short quarter notes.

Smiling Kittens! &mdash 07/20/05 - 02:22:06 PM
Nice piece. Agree with E, the mix is a bit heavy on the lead
and bass. Bass is a bit thumping and guitar is a little
overpowering against the vocals. Still, great piece!

Bowie'ish &mdash 07/20/05 - 03:14:59 PM
Apart from the allready mentioned mixing issues you've made a clever piece of rock music here. The short echo effect on the vox is typical Bowie, and your voice reminds me of him as well:)

Cool daring choice of guitars and bass groove. Dig the machine effect you made with the guitars a while into the song. A bit of pink floyd there...

You've spent some time arranging this I guess. Well done man:)

Thanks! &mdash 07/20/05 - 03:21:30 PM
Thanks to all who have taken the time to listen and post comments/review!!! Yeah, it's weird, it seems all of my songs suffer from the "buried vocals" issues mentioned already here. I swear when I mix the song in GB their fine - front and center and easily the loudest part of the track.... but then when I mixdown to iTunes and post the mp3, they slide back a ways and muck it up with the guitars. I guess I just need to keep that in mind and mix them louder than I normally would. Thanks again!!!

Swathes of guitar heaven &mdash 07/20/05 - 05:04:40 PM
Really nice track...the vocals are cool in a kinda Bowie/
Mott the Hoople style. Very wall of guitar sound
throughout and I like those weird electronic bits that
come in towards the end

Big sound &mdash 07/20/05 - 09:55:02 PM
This has serious potential. You're right about the
pinhole mic needing replacement! I suspect that
would make a huge difference to this track. I'd also
boost the drums (and bass). Light and shade is
good, and the vox sounds good too.
Give it some tweaks for some big scores - and buy
or borrow a decent mic.
Good track
Neil

Beautiful... &mdash 07/21/05 - 03:25:21 PM
This makes a great noise in a sort of loud way... your
vocals are really great... they may be low but I can hear
every word. I lreally ove the weird noisy bit three-quarters
of the way through too

Guitars Guitars Guitars &mdash 07/21/05 - 04:24:40 PM
Not my music, but artistically great. Vocals are great also.
Really like the mix up fill in the middle.

Great work.

Nice!!!

This is great! &mdash 07/22/05 - 06:07:46 AM
I loved the mix. The vocals are clear and the mix you have as well as the part toward the middle evoke a feeling of choas and confusion.

DL/9s!

Jekyll and Hide &mdash 07/28/05 - 08:07:02 AM
Very compelling groove, I dig the power and drive. The mix
is a little off-uptting in my ears, but the dirtiness gives it a
certain aura of some guy stalking a gentleman in a top hot
thru the alleys of London, slipping into his mistress'
apartment... like Jekyll and Hide. Very cool. The whole sound
grew on me in a King Crimson powerful way. Really nice
track.

Epic &mdash 08/21/05 - 01:37:08 PM
This song is epic in nature. I love the guitar track but it
could be a little more back in the mix. I enjoy the lyrics as
well. Isn't mouse-point keyboard playing a bitch?
