Liked the 'lectric intro, seemed a little "electric country" too
Still you sing better than I do, but overall it's okay although
the bass seems overpowering at times. Sod it can you dumb
down the bass, use some more electric guitar and let me
know
Cheers

Hi Steveg,

Thanks a million for the feedback. I recorded this the night before I uploaded
it and on hearing it again the bass does sound too much. The mix does need
loads of work but since I'm new to garageband and the whole mixing thing I'll
have to knuckle down on that one!

Cheers

Great start
Overall, very nice piece. Agree with steveg. As much as I love
bass (and I do), it is mixed a little heavy. Violins are a nice
touch.

Great start
Thanks nisper,

A friend of mine who's plays violin in an orchestra did that in ten minutes.
Very talented. I just micked him up and let him fly! Will be back with a more
polished mix so thanks alot for posting and watch this space!

Nice vocal
I would have a softer opening with maybe the acoustic
strumming first before the electric. And strictly for my
taste I like a cleaner lead sound on this type of melodic
song. It seems like you have two different styles going on
in the same song. On the one hand you have a nice voice,
a good melody and a sensitive violin and then you have
very loud distorted guitar and bass. And the overall
volume seems too loud, I had to cut my volume when this
song came on. Also the ending went on for too long doing
the now nowl. Don't get me wrong, I like the song and you
but the production and arrangement does need a lot of
work.

Nice vocal
Hi Bronco,

Thanks for the post - very helpful. I like your suggestion about bringing in
the acoustic first quietly. I does seem to blast out - especially with the high
volume you mentioned. The guitar does seem a bit rough and ready but it's
something I plan to mellow down a bit. I will bring some drums into it too to
make the 'now now now' bits a more dynamic but I agree with what you said
about it being too long - think I'll fade it out sooner. Glad you like it and
really appreciate your suggestions. Gav

Cool
Great vocal style. Good rhythm guitar, I like that catchy riff
too. It does sound unpolished, but it's got loads of
potential.

It's all there
Great vocals and tune but as you say, it's a bit rough as yet.
Would suggest some instrumental sections - maybe a couple
of full length breaks - as there's a lot of vocal right now
which (combined with the strummed guitar) gets a bit
wearing after a while. If you do have an instrumental bring
the fiddle right forward - it'll have a lot of impact.

Glad you said there was a real fiddle on the track - I was
going to give up playing if that was a Garage Band
instrument!

oops!
Well, I think that you posted this one in the wrong place. I
was startled to hear an electric buzzing through. However,
I really like this melody as well as some of the vocal
treatment. It is really a surprising pearl among the
oysters. I wasn't going to listen to it at first but you
sucked me in. Darn! I hate when people do that! LOL

Add a mandolin to this one which, at times, would replace
the electric guitar. I can really see this as effective in the
verses but not in the chorus.

Please, vary the backup acoustic? guitar in the slow parts
because it becomes a bit tiring after a bit. The "No, no, no,
no" needs to be quieter and not compete over the regualr
verse and lead singer. This is not a good place for wo
voices to be "equal." It needs to have the notion conveyed
that there is conflict psychologically rather than one of
physcial blatancy.

very emotive
this is overall an excellent song in terms of vocals and ambiance...
what you have captured here (which I think lacks in most music these
days) is that sweet "realness" and crunchy up-front sounds that feel
like heat or 5 O'clock in august... this was present more often during
the 60s and 70s with singer-songwriters...and seems to get processed
out now.

the ending is perfect.

my biggest suggestion is to pick a place in the song where you think
you could drop out some of the backing instruments and let your
vocals and perhaps one instrument stand alone for 8 to 16 measures,
preferably having the instrumentation re-enter the song at a point
where there's an important lyric to punctuate. That would break up the
song a bit and create a little tension buildup...then payoff!

love it.

Nice
Enjoyed the instrument selection. Acoustic, Viola, and a gritty guitar and a very charismatic voice. I'd keep it like this and record another. Great job.
