Description
Wrote the lyrics during a time of personal struggle. Years later (also read as just the other day), I found them laying around in an old sketch book. Polished them up a bit and changed a few things and this is where they've ended up.
I'd like to add a vocal track, but I'm not a vocalist and could use someone else's help.
Would appreciate any input/feedback/comments (be gentle) you may have to help improve this piece.
Thanks!

Lyrics
Can you tell me where I’m going?
Can you tell me where I’ve been?
Can you tell me what today’s date is?
Do you know what state I’m in?
Can you tell me what my name is?
Can you show me the right way?
Can you hold my tired baggage,
While I find a place to stay?
(CHORUS)
Walking ‘round my head hung low, just not sure where I should go,
Doesn’t anybody know? What am I gonna do?
Like looking all around the land, for a grain of sugar in the sand,
I really just don’t understand. Tell me, what can I do?
I’ve walked a thousand miles.
I’ve dreamed a thousand dreams.
I’ve been a thousand places,
But nothing’s what it seems.
I’ve met a thousand people.
I’ve heard a thousand lies.
I’ve seen a thousand children cry,
With pain that fills their eyes.
(CHORUS)
I don’t know if I’m alone. Inside a quarry, just a stone,
Like walking on a broken bone? What am I gonna do?
Like looking all around the land, for a grain of sugar in the sand,
I really just don’t understand. Tell me, what should I do?
A world so full of emptiness;
A world full of random things;
A world where birds can dream of flight,
But can’t extend their wings.
A world that offers promises;
A world the gives despair;
A world that deals out chances,
Then, folds without a care.
(CHORUS)
Walking ‘round my head hung low, just not sure where I should go,
Doesn’t anybody know? What am I gonna do?
I don’t know if I’m alone. Inside a quarry, just a stone,
Like walking on a broken bone. Tell me, what must I do?
See, I don’t know where I’m going,
But I do know where I’ve been.
I’m not sure what today’s date is,
But I know what state I’m in.
I think I know my first name,
And I’ll find my own right way.
I’ll hold my own damn baggage,
And I’ll find a place to stay.
(CHORUS)
Now I think that I can see. Frustrating, temporary.
All the while it was just me. I know what I’m gonna do.
I don’t know if you’ll be there. Standing ‘lone, an empty stare.
Waiting for an empty chair. Now I know what to do?
Like looking all around the land, for a grain of sugar in the sand,
It’s so clear. I understand. Now, I know what to do!
