Description:
This one came out of a chat line conversation late one night a couple of months ago with tiler and aclarke. We were discussing the merits of jimi hendrix. I guess this one's about the last 35 years. I suppose.
Lyrics:
Where?
There are no foundations for castles in the sky
White and black so slowly go to grey
The non-existent factions held to their corrupted plans
For the forming of them took more than a day.
There is no cause of merit now the troops have been withdrawn
And where will you go now that you're gone?
The word went out to all those who wear flowers in their hair
A spirit knew there was a better way
If the bodies in the jungle now could grant an interview
Is Hare Krishna likely what they'd say?
The fairies now have left us and they've buried Oberon
And where will you go now that you're gone?
The thought-provoking rhetoric so common in the vogue
Was induced by matter foreign to the brain
What promised tranquil visions of the inner mounting flame
Turned more like a who's who of the insane
We laid the wreaths and flowers beneath the Pentagon
And where will you go now that you're gone?
Deafness cursed the heroes of the newly won regime
And some they clutched the blindness to their hearts
Once safely placed in power they forgot about
The madness we endured to reach the present state of arts
There's little comfort knowing things are darkest 'fore the dawn
And where will you go now that you're gone?
White dove hasn't earned her promised slumber in the sand
School is once again a place to learn
Corruption, coups and crisisees headline the morning news
And on Main Street the cards no longer burn
It's as if the major pieces have been taken by a pawn
And where will you go now that you're gone?
Durability and comfort have naturally given way
To couturiers that smell of sweet cologne
It might even be a blessing that my albums refuse to play
On that strange sophisticated gramophone
And the common people dance, fallen warriors look on
And where will you go now that you're gone?

Very nice guitars & Lyrics, reminds me of Leonard
Cohen...lyrics are actually exeptional as well as the guitars...I
can hear the harmonies and only wish they were a little bit
louder, but otherwise excellent [ Reply to This ]

Thanks Tom. Always been a big Cohen fan. Yeah, you're right about the
harmonies and generally I play them up. Brain cramp I'm guessing.

Cool tune Snowdragon...kind of reminds me of Lee
Hazelwood's stuff. Great guitar playing too!

Lee Hazelwood, now there's a name I haven't thought of in ages. But
undoubtedly an influence along the way. Thanks stevel.

Nice going Snow!
Love your added guitar work, to me you really fit it in well.
I like how you crafted your words. You seem to have great
skills as a writer as well your musical merits. Like how
uniform your words are by putting "And where will you go
now that you're gone".
I really, really like that picture alot, showing some of your
personal & musical highlights. Love the lightness of your
playing and singin.
Thanks for letting me in on this! [ Reply to This ]

You know T, there were times when I was trying guitar parts and mixing this
that it was just like the two of us were sitting on my back deck with a couple
of six-strings and a jug of something cold. One of my most enjoyable
experiences since joining MJ.
Glad you liked the artwork too. Lotta memories in those old pictures from
various folkish gigs.
Thanks a million pal, for everything. cheers

I know I might sound boasting because I took part, but this is a terrific example
of real good soft rock folk tune. And I am putting it in a context of your work
totally. You just set a great feel for putting my stuff in there. Wow, I am listening
to your harmony, that is outstanding as well. I feel your one of those musicians
that are not getting your just due. But that is one of the big lessons in life I
guess we have to learn. In a real true sense of the word, your pictures really do
tell it like it is. A life of great joy!

You already know..... &mdash 07/25/05 - 09:45:17 AM
how much I like this song., as I DL'd about five
seconds after it posted. It was crying out for those
harmonies. I'll add my dittos to tiler's comments. This
song has so much going for it. Killer lyrics that
capture an age quickly passing and yours and tiler's
instrumentals are classic.
Good going Saskatewan...

And those harmonies will, one day in the not too distant future, become part
of it along with a few other voices.
Now, about sailboats . . .

Hey Mr. B,
I really liked the mellow flow and vocals on this
one. Good lyrics and very nice guitar sounds.
This is one of my favorite Folk songs now.
You and the Tiler are a good team, you should
make some more Folk songs.
5 Stars.

I still love this! &mdash 08/29/05 - 08:51:42 PM
and one day I'll send over my takes for you to review. This is
a great song!
As a kid growing up in the hippie-dom of Earth Peoples Park
in Norton, VT I was raised listening to a wide variety of
music. This song brings me back to that time in the very
early 70's and conjures memories of a very innocent time (as
it should have been for a six year old).
Excellent guitar work from both of you! [ Reply to This ]
