Lyrics
She plants a seed within my soul
Where inspiration fondly grows
And I, and I, just wait to taste it
There's always one place I can go
When the past few hours have taken toll
And I, and I, can't wait to play it

When Katie plays I know my place
Rivers run with melodies
And everything else just fades into irrelevance
And even with the aftermaths
As all the tired dramas pass
When Katie plays well they all fade
And I know everything will be ok again

I found a song upon my pillow
Through the wires and into my head
Insomnia never felt so good
I found myself in another dimention
words too soft to the touch to mention
I know, I know this is where I should be

When Katie plays I know my place
Rivers run with melodies
And everything else just fades into irrelevance
And even with the aftermaths
As all the tired dramas pass
When Katie plays well they all fade
And I know everything will be ok again

A perfect song
I'm afraid words fail me. I love this song to bits, it's quite simply perfect. The composition, singing, instrumentals and harmonics are all perfect as far as I'm concerned and this group have just aquired a new fan. I really hope to hear more from them.
cbuchner1 said 1584 days ago (July 25th, 2005)
distracting effects on the vocals?
The only gripe I have about this song is the flange or phase
effect on the vocals. It makes your sweet voice sound a bit
mechanical - a warmer sound would have been much more
comforting.

Otherwise GREAT SONG!

Great song
I love this song.
Everythinh is perfect, but i agree with cbuchner about the
effect on the vocals.

Great voice
So I'll echo everyone elses comments and say lay off the
flange. Nice elements. Would love to hear something like
this just completely stripped down with like an accoustic
and just some percussion. Great song you could probably
do a bunch of different ways. Thanks for posting it.

ooh ooh ooh...
Macjams supergroup. This is wonderful. Can I just say the
arrangement here is out of this world? That organ figure...
those distant backing vocals. Brilliant.

There's a sort of phasey wash about the track that sounds
a bit like when I chose that funny EQ on the master track.
God I'm so technical, aren't I? But I think that it might be
better to lose that effect and allow the sound to come
through more directly.. may be way off here... but. Help
me out somebody.

great stuff
I, too, hear the voice of FB. I can't identify any other
member's playing but whoever they are they're really good. I
really like the poetic lyrics. Excellent. Now let's get you that
proper mic/preamp.

Whoever you all are, great tune.

gentle
this is a great gentle song, one you can listen to over and over
again. i like it! everything sounds great (although i do agree
with everyone else that the vocals would be great without the
flange effect). nicely done!

sounds nice
This sure sounds like FB. I know that was mentioned before.
But the voice sounds identical. I sure would be suprised if it
wasn't.

The tune sounds very nice.

Thanks for sharing

Great lyrics . . . . .etc!
What a nice song! Great voice (must be FB!), with
everything really fitting nicely together. Would love to
hear the original GB file with maybe someone working on
the slight hiss on the vocal.
Nothing more to say . . . . . love it!

Just ruminating
The singer reminds me of one of my pet peeves. In songs
like these, clearly the lyrics are pretty important. I mean,
the arrangement is nice, but would be nothing without the
vocals.

So why is it so fashionable among certain vocalists (a
friend played me some Shawn Colvin the other day) to slur
these lyrics so much? If your message is so important,
please enunciate it clearly.

Just getting that off my chest.

It's not all that bad in this song; I've heard far worse, but
it's enough to trigger my 'pet peeve' button.

Other than that: solid arrangement, very sweet voice and
completely in tune; in all a pleasure to listen to.

Just ruminating
Hey vic...thanks for listening and commenting. I was going to try and justify
the slurring you mentioned, but then I listened to the song to try and see
what you meant, and actually, to be honest, I really dont think I slurred the
lyrics at all. I think its really quite easy to hear the words im singing, and
when im singing my songs, i always sing with emotion and meaning as i
always write from the heart and therefore connect with the lyrics very much
as i sing. Anyway, I hope you can understand what im trying to say, im not
very good at explaining myself usually. thanks again for your comments and
im glad u enjoyed the song overall...i just wanted to put in my 2 cents.

Just ruminating
Hey, I've listened again, and I think I should have spared you my thinking aloud.
You do indeed sing very clear. There are a couple of phrases I keep mishearing.
For instance I'm firmly convinced that you're singing about the passing of "tired
drummers".

Other than that, you indeed don't slur. I guess the thing I was hearing when I
first commented is that you have a tendency to trail off the last word of a
sentence.

But hey, I think this is an absolutely lovely song, you have a great voice, and I
scored it 9889.

Just the thing...
...sounds like Fairy Beth with bass and drums...

The song is great, the vocal's great as always...And the
vocal takes center stage, which is wise...

Down the road I'd love to hear some more like this, with a
little more "action" from the band...but that's not a
criticism, that's just me...

This is awesome as it stands. Don't know how I missed its
appearance until now.

Well Done
Excellent singing, FB, and, well played, whoever is in the rest
of the band. I like the production alot as well, the subtle
background vocals made me smile. Very good melody.
