Description:
Another trip in Mr. Peabody's wayback machine.
This is yet another improvisational piece performed with my friend Michael Chorney back in 1985. I was going to add some additional instrumentals to this...but then, after listening to it a dozen times in a row, I just couldn't see how I was going to make it any better. So here you have the piece in it's original state "Unaltered" in any way, just as it was played and recorded in my living room 20 years ago.
Michael is playing his acoustic Martin and I am playing the E Bow on my Custom Strat. This was recorded live, just as it happened, no dubs, no edits.
Hardware:
Martin D18, Strat & E Bow. The original cassette was transferred to digital using SoundEdit Pro and converted to MP3 in iTunes.
Software:
SoundEdit Pro, iTunes

Extremely listen-to-able! &mdash 08/02/05 - 01:50:05 PM
This just flows... beautifully performed! Reminds me
somewhat of Michael Hedges. I agree that it still stands
wonderfully on its own, no modern GB enhancements
necessary. DLed & Faved.

Thanks Drakonis! I set out to bring back some of this music from my history
thinking I could surely do something to improve it...but then you listen...and
listen again, and realize, it is just as it should be, perfectly preserved in a
moment of time. More istenable? no...I don;t think I could have made it any
more "listenable" than it is.
Thanks much for your comment. [ Reply to This ]
Fine playing &mdash 08/02/05 - 06:59:53 PM
A gentle piece with an edge -reminded me of an Autumnal
twilight over a river where birds are preparing to migrate.
Loved the scratchiness at the end! [ Reply to This ]

Thanks very much. Beautiful description.
And the scratchyness at the end...that is cool huh...made my e bow sound like
old vinyl.

I thought about posting some of my really old stuff. I used
Sound Edit Pro as well. Or Sound Edit 16, whichever was
older. My app quit working once they came out with the
PPCs, and I kind of got away from recording. I was having
to do too many tricks to hide hiss and the idea of
destructionless editing was far in the future.
Surprised yours sounds so clean. You must have been
using something better than a button mic.
Nice piece. Sleepy now.
Did think it was going to end at a couple of the slow
points (and it kept on going). No issue there, just my
prejudices. [ Reply to This ]

Funny, the only mic I owned back then was this really cheap thing that came
with my Tascam Porta One, but I was really into pre processing back then, so I
worked hard to get decent recordings with really crappy stuff.
Thansk for the listen and comment.

Duetting musical instruments.
It conflicts, and a to tell the truth good combinations.
Meditation and making for trial purposes.
Flow when it is quiet.
You may not add anything.
and,You may not pull anything.
It is good in this. [ Reply to This ]

Tadashi. It amazes me how beautifully written your remarks are. I know from our
correspondance that English does not come easily for you, yet, you write some
of the most beautiful english I have ever read. How do you do it? Succinct, to the
point, poetic...perfect.
Thank you for listening and commenting on my music. [ Reply to This ]

It's good to hear some improv, and I always enjoy good
acoustic guitar playing. This is very zen, which I
appreciate. [ Reply to This ]

mixed with the tasty acoustic playing,
this is an excellent piece and I am glad
that you kept it for all those years.
It is really full of emotions and they
playing is great.
I love this tune.
