Description:

Sometimes when you're a kid, you do stuff you don't realize how wrong and horrible it is until you're older. I killed a bunch of birds a few Summers when I was a young punk. I think about the birds I killed and how I wish I hadn't.

Lyrics:

I was a boy like you. Learning how to shoot.
Stepping outside. What a glorious view.
Of the green living there. Reaching towards the sky.
Resting upon a nest they built inside.

And there I saw its beautiful wings.

there are other meanings to these lyrics. What they might
be, isn't readily apparent to me but that's just fine as a
good cryptic metaphor is a time-honoured tradition in
most musical genres and folk rock in particular. And, it
would appear this tune is working on several levels.

No quibble with the approach and energy of the mix but it
could use a touch of polish, I think. Just a bit to get the
vocals a little more up front and some of the distracting
bass buzz off the guitar. Otherwise, a fine tune.
